* We are all familiar with the concept of Papa Oom Mow Mow, but here the Rivingtons turn the whole idea on its head showing us that not only is Mama Oom Mow Mow just as valid, but that it is possible to add the suffix (The Bird). A brilliant semantic move if ever there was one.
* Little Richard is of course one of the Greats. The very straight forward title of his earlier Good Golly Miss Molly disguised the cleverly constructed theory that became universally known as `A Wop Bop A Loo Bop A Lop Bam Boom'. Here we present an alternative view of his later `Bama Lama Bama Loo' contention; note the beautifully deconstructed guitar solo inserted half way through.
* One could go on for aeons about these great men and women, but suffice to say that the world would be a poorer place without the profound wisdom found within the microscopic pits of this small silver disc. A challenge to the intellect that requires repeated listens to get on the same wavelength, but is well worth the effort and is guaranteed to leave the listener with a profound sense.
* The track `Jambo' featured in the movie "Dodgeball" and more recently on Sky TV's "Malcolm In The Middle". Danny Baker featured the song regularly on his radio show, with listeners phoning in to attempt to sing along!
* The track 'Boom Pacha Boom' - BILLY BYRD & HIS PENGUINS (With Unknown Female Vocalist) features in the national TV advertising campaign for that world famous liqueur from Baileys!

Another 'Ace' Compilation,
This review is from: Great Googa Mooga (Audio CD)
There really should be a National Park devoted to the boys at Ace Records. If they've made a bad compilation I haven't heard it. This one is a little harder to sum up as it doesn't focus on any one genre and instead gathers a range of early styles from RnB to garage with the prevalent theme being indecipherable or nonsensical lyrics. Therefore we get songs called, OOCHIE PACHIE, TING TING BOOM SCAT, OO-MA-LIDDI, VOO-IT! VOO-IT! and RUBBER BISCUIT! The novelty factor is obviously high but Ace have unearthed a number of gems and some really amazing tunes here as to ensure this is not a throwaway album. I'd recommend this to the discerning rock n roll fan looking for something to impress your friends and spice up the record collection, rather than the casual listener. That said, EVERYONE should have a copy of Claude Mclin's wonderfully potty 'JAMBO' in their collection.
