More About the Author

I'll tell you now, there's some truth to Jack Nicholson's character in The Shining, so it's probably a good thing that I'm not a grumpy, alcoholic git. I haven't slept with any ghosts yet either, but hey, never say never. I'm English - with a selection of crunchy European bits - but I've often spent years at a time wandering the world. At the moment though, I'm back living in London.

When I'm not writing, I'm likely to be busy publishing via Ghostwoods Books, gwdbooks.com. Excellent novels are always welcome -- submission guidelines are on the gwdbooks website.

I twitter assorted random lunacy as @ghostwoods. Drop by and say hi!

It's always a pleasure to find something so remarkably different in book shops, and there s no doubt that this project pushes the boundaries of computer-interaction and mental stimulus. Highly recommended to those with the right mindset for this sort of challenge. --Saffron Walden Reporter

4.0 out of 5 stars The Mystery starts here ?? 20 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Following purchase I have attempted to decipher the clues in the book, but it is somewhat convoluted and tricky to read.
Perseverance would seem to be the key, but it is still going to be hard.
I may yet get a sudden insight, but can't see it yet.
This book and its puzzles are really intriguing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Masquerade brought up to date 30 Sep 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Being old enough to remember trying to solve Masquerade and the Cadbury's Creme Egg Hunt, I awaited the publication of the Global Treasure Hunt with great anticipation. The puzzles are very challenging, and one month in, I have no idea of the solution, but I'll keep on trying. If you attempt this puzzle, if nothing else, you'll become an expert Google Earth technician.
The book consists of 14 original colour illustrations by John Lucas, each one packed with obscure visual clues, most with a page of supporting text, designed to guide you to the treasure.
I have two criticisms. Firstly, I think that there is almost too much information, making it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. I suspect that the vast majority of treasure hunters will fall by the wayside long before the April 2012 deadline. And secondly, some of the detail of the illustrations is lost in the mediocre print quality. You literally need a magnifying glass for some of the clues, and information is lost in the fuzzy print. Maybe the coffee table de-luxe version has better print quality?
In summary, GGTH is innovative and a long-overdue addition to the genre, but it lacks the beauty, elegance and visual simplicity of Masquerade.
