I recently bought 2 of these, one for my daughter and one for a birthday present. Ellie, who is 6 really enjoyed doing this with a little help from Daddy, (she has already made the ballerina and fairy versions!). Great for birthday presents too!

My 6 year old realy enjoyed creating this doll. Lots of adult support required for cutting and glueing. Very pleased with finished doll.

Make your own Mermaid kit
This toy was easy to make, but was falling apart within a few hours, so not very durable.
