This toy was bought for my 6 yr old son. The idea behind the 'dig for hidden treasure' is good, but the 'brick' which encases the treasure is SO hard, it took my son, his friend and myself to smash away at it. We started on Christmas day, by pretending we were expert archaeologists, delicately chipping away at the brick, but after about an hour of nothing but red dust all over the kitchen we took the toy outside and started hammering furiously. The toy hammer provided was far too small to do much damage and the tiny paint brush (for brushing away the dust) was completely useless. (Beware, as the amount of dust produced is considerable.) Eventually we managed to knock off the corners of the brick, but were yet to find any treasure. By this time the children had lost interest and the toy was put away until the next day. This went on all through Christmas - each day we took the battered brick outside and hammered it - sometimes the children resorted to smashing bits of brick onto the garden path. Eventually the treasure was revealed - which was rather pathetic after all the effort it took to find it. The children pesevered, however, and eagerly set about using the treasure to play the game (which came as part of the toy). They soon lost interest in this as it was so boring. As this toy was being sent through the post, I was worried it might become damaged - I needn't have been - even if the toy hadn't been so superbly packaged, it probably still wouldn't have broken.
