4.0 out of 5 stars Frank Gambale at his best 7 Oct 2000
Format:Audio CD
This is, in my opinion, Franks finest album. He mixes rock and blues riffs with soulful, funky and jazzy phrasing in a distinctive, memorable way that only he can. His latest work tends to be softer and more easy listening, but this album has a raw edge that will appear to all instrumental guitar fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gambale does ROCK! 27 July 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of Frank Gambale's guitar playing ever since I first heard him on a Guitar Player magazine cover disk in around 1984. He replaced Scott Henderson in Chick Corea's Electrik Band and did an admirable job there. For me, Frank's solo material has presented a dilema; the compositions stongly influenced by Chick Corea and Steely Dan somehow, with a few notable exceptions, never reached the mark. But always world class guitar playing. Describing Frank's guitar playing is difficult. What adjectives can you use when a player can eclipse the abilities of any other players from any other genres? Ok, there are fusion players I would consider equal, but we are talking Allan Holdsworth and Al Di Meola.
So what do we have here? Well Frank Gambale with what was Joe Satriani's band playing in a rock influenced style. The results: Absolutely outstanding. Frank has penned some very nifty tunes and garnished them with some of the most blistering playing you could ever dream of hearing.
I recommend this album to anyone who appreciates hyper-elite guitar playing, especially when it accompanies some very listenable tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank at his best 30 Nov 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This CD is great. If you like instrumental guitar music that isn't too heavy or not too jazzy then buy this CD. Frank is a great guitar player, best known for his work in the Jazz/Fusion world with Chick Corea etc. But this CD is not too jazzy or fusion oriented but instead really assessable to those whose ears cannot cope with too heavy a fusion experience. Also note, Stuart Hamm plays bass on this CD, another good excuse to buy it. Fans of Joe Satriani may well appreciate this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally satisfying 1 Sep 2007

This is an album of very rare quality. Every one of these 10 tunes is a gem, with a great hook or even two great hooks. Listening to it you can't help smiling because the melodic and harmonic inventiveness just never stops, and the guitar tone is gorgeous. This is early 1990s guitar at its very very best, and it still sparkles in 2007, uplifting and inspirational. Frank Gambale is a genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of his firiest 25 Mar 2009
By JC - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I've listened to quite a few of his projects and most of them didn't really do much for me. This particular disc has some blazing playing and (to me) a bit more depth and variety than most of his efforts. There's even a particularly nice track with him playing an acoustic.

Coming at this not as a devotee I'd say this one would be essential if you like what he does or a great place to start if you want to investigate.
