This cracking CD focuses on some of Elvis' country music. Covering a lot of the country music that he recorded, this is definately one of the finest Elvis Cds available.
Many of the songs will be familiar, and have been released before. But the half-dozen alternate takes make this a very worthy purchase.
The selling point here is a stunning alternate take of Kris Krisstofferson's "Help Me Make It Through The Night" that betters Elvis' master take from the "Elvis Now" album.
The "Guitar Man" remake/remix from 1980 is here also, plus almost every track being utterly sensational, especially the final studio track that Elvis ever cut, "He'll Have To Go", you know, the Jim Reeves song. What Elvis does with this country standard is sensational, as he moulds it into a long, slow blues with especially excellent guitar work from James Burton.
Like I said, this is a tremendous CD, especially if you like country music. Hopefully a similar CD of blues will be released soon.

Much more of a `Country` album than `Elvis Country`. All of the songs are familiar, even if some were recorded by other artists first, namely, Hank Williams, Don Gibson, Englebert, Ned Miller, Eddy Arnold, Johnny Tillotson, Tom Jones, Glen Campbell, Statler Brothers, Jim Reeves and Jerry Reed, to name but a few (sorry for those I have missed out).

24 tracks where Elvis and those who arranged, produced and accompanied, made a determined effort to validate the title of the CD. The tracks cover almost the entire career of the afore-mentioned legend perfectly. Great value, great CD!

In other reviews I've commented on the various styles of music you can find in Elvis's repertoire, which I believe few if any other artist can match.

This CD puts together a fine compilation of Elvis country songs, that takes all the way back to his start in 1954 with Sun with "Blue Moon of Kentucky", to the final studio recording of "He'll Have To Go", released on the 1977 "Moody Blue" album.

The songs progress through the years with a selection of hits and album tracks the demonstrate that Elvis's love of country. The hits include the likes of "A Fool Such As I", "Kentucky Rain" an "Always On My Mind". The album tacks include those from the classic "Elvis In Memphis", "Elvis Country", "Today" and "Promised Land" albums.

This is not simply another of Elvis's greatest hits album it is a country inspired collection. There is perhaps one surprising omission though and that is the last country No.1 that Elvis saw in his lifetime, this being 1977's, "Moody Blue". "Moody Blue" however being a strong international hit for Elvis (UK top 10), is a stalwart of many of the greatest hits compilations, so therefore this may be the reasoning for the omission here. Included though is the posthumous country No.1 from 1980 and that is the re-mixed "Guitar Man", the original mix of which dates back to 1968.

Fans will enjoy even if they have all the songs many times over on original albums or other collections. They may find pleasure in one or two of the alternate takes.

Those who have a greatest collection and who enjoy country music may like to use this album as a starting point for discovering more of the Elvis genius. He was after all much more than simply "The King Of Rock 'n' Roll".

Some tracks on here that are in my absolute favs, just about all I already had - but many are new versions/takes and so well worth having. Have been playing it on repeat for a few days. Recommended.

Very nice CD, but I was expecting more Country compared to his originals.
