Great Christian Revivals is an amazing PAL DVD of 3 major British revivals -
The Welsh Revival (1904-1905), The Hebridean Revival (1949-1952) in the Outer Hebridies, Scotland and the Evangelical Revival (1739-1791)across England.
This is the first DVD i have seen on revival, though i have seen many revival related videos. The first time i saw this DVD my spirit was stirred and i began to weep in my front room.
The scenery and film footage from Wales, Scotland, England and some cuts-ins from India and Holland and other places are quite amazing. But this DVD also mentions two other revival which were filmed on location in Cambuslang, Scotland. The Cambusland Revival (1742) when 30,000 people turned up for a communion weekend (very Scottish) in a parish of 900! 12 preachers were on hand, including George Whitefield. The place is now a park!! where thEse men of faith preached in natural semi-ampthreatre. And another revival in Wales in the 1830s in Blaneau Ffestiniogg (a real Welsh name, though the spelling may be out!) and the slate minning quarry was ablaze for the glory of God.
The story is powerful, true, stirring, challenging; the music is heavenly and blends so well that the soul is delighted; the narration is concise, factual and accurate. Top job.
There is also old photos, drawings, footage on locations (lots of revival related sites) and so much in the DVD. I was blessed to watch and listen to the lives of Evan Roberts, Duncan Campbell, John and Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, Lady Huntington, Howell Harris, Daniel Rowlands and others...

This DVD is a wonderful complement to Mathew Backholer's books. His books TELL us about revivals but this DVD SHOWS us visually some of those revivals. It takes us deep into the heart of the Welsh revival, the Hebridean revival and the Evangelical revival and through film footage and photographs documents a thorough account of what took place.
There are very few resources that show us revival stories pictorially and that is what makes this DVD so interesting. For example it is when you visually see the geography of the Hebridean islands that you realise just how astonishing some of the events were that took place. The DVD brings to life the people behind these moves of God and clarifies the teamwork approach that appeared to arise to enable and carry these revivals. This DVD also demonstrates beautifully the kindness and love God has for our nation.
This DVD stirs and challenges. This is another great resource from the ByFaith Media team.

Great Christian Revivals tells the stories of the Welsh, Hebridean and Evangelical Revival by visiting the places that these great moves of God took place and showing them with moving music and telling the story.
This gives faith for the future that God will do it again!

special interest
If you have a special interest in the old revivals then you will probably be able too overlook the shortfalls in this DVD and will appreciate the information the narrator provides. Read more
