Each chapter is subdivided into sections, opening with descriptive text, followed by the various recipes which are listed at the front as well as in the index, for quick reference.
Each easy-to-follow recipe has the title and opening text, e.g.:-
`Apple Charlotte is the name given to a pudding prepared for Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, by her French cooks.
Apparently she was a patron of apple growers at the time, which is why the dish was so named.
It consists of pieces of bread dipped in melted butter and used to line a `Charlotte' mould.
The bread mould was then filled with apple purée, covered with more buttered bread and baked to give a crisp brown crust on both the top and the bottom. This version uses blackberries as well as apples.....'
Then follows the number of servings, the clearly numbered method and a footnote which may include accompaniment ideas and/or variations on the theme.
Each also has a full colour, mouth-watering photograph from the `Full English Breakfast' sizzling in the frying pan to the cool bottled ginger beer which closes the book.

This is a really fantastic book, I bought it for my husband who loves cooking and he has used it every weekend since. It has great photographs and the recipes and ingredients are straight forward. The recipes have a nostalgic element but with a modern twist. I recommend the beef casserole with dumplings, and the rice pudding.
