5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect pub porn! 27 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
If you love pubs - not just the food and drink they serve - but the pubs themselves - this is the perfect book. Adrian Tierney-Jones clearly loves pubs - no, is passionate about pubs, good pubs - and that shows through clarion clear in this paeon to the pub, in prose and photographs.
I've read a few of his other books - both for CAMRA and other publishers - and also his reviews in the Telegraph. I always enjoy his eloquent, often lyrical, descriptions of both beer and the places in which it is served. He makes me thirsty, not to put too fine a point on it. In this book, he not only makes me thirsty for good beer, he makes me want to get up and travel round Britain to visit the pubs he so lovingly describes. They're a wide mix - from spit 'n' sawdust boozers to sophisticated gastros. All have character and charm; all serve great beer; all have made the grade one way or another to meet Tierney-Jones' exacting tastebuds and stringent eye.
I bought this book for myself as a bit of - let's be honest - pub porn. A book to flick through and salivate. It is now dog-eared as I've bookmarked so many places. I've also bought a whole bunch of copies for similar beer lovers as Christmas presents. It's a cracker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eclectic Selection of Eclectic Pubs 15 April 2012
Format:Paperback
As a regular pub visitor this is an interesting guide to drinking establishments, grouped in chapters by various themes. Already been to quite a few of the pubs in the guide and would say that their reviews are fair and accurate.

Sort of a half-way house between an A-Z guide and a good read. Got my copy free as it features one of my photos but would have bought a copy anyway, can't say fairer than that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great present for a beer lover 26 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this as a Christmas present for hubby. Even though he has loads of pub guides, he really liked this. Said it was informative, well laid out and a good browse.
