This A-Z map of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a full colour, large scale, spiral bound road atlas of approximately A3 size. Superb clarity and easy navigation has been achieved throughout, with mainland road mapping, in particular, presented at a clear 2.5 miles to 1 inch (1.6km to 1 cm). In addition to 176 pages of detailed road mapping, this atlas includes route planning maps, a mileage chart with average journey times, information on motorway junctions with limited interchange, 11 pages of main route mapping, Channel Tunnel maps, 70 city and town centre plans and 16 port and airport plans. Reference panel information also appears in French and German.
The road mapping includes the following features:
- Motorways open with full junction detail, motorways under construction and proposed, service areas, primary routes and destinations, A & B roads, gradients 1:5 and steeper, tolls, mileages, national and county boundaries, together with spot heights and hill shading
- Selected safety camera locations with their maximum speed limits
- Selected fuel stations
- Selected truckstop locations
- A wide range of tourist and ancillary information
The main route mapping covers:
- Greater London, featuring the Low Emission Zone boundary and the Congestion Charging Zone
- Birmingham
- Manchester
The comprehensive index comprises of two sections: the first is an index of cities, towns, villages, hamlets and locations; the second is an index to places of interest along with their full postcode for easy satnav use.
Safety camera locations are sourced from PocketGPSWorld.com.

If you are one of the many middle aged people who refuse to admit they need to wear glasses, don't need glasses to drive but still want to use the map book, and don't want to be spoken to sternly by some electronic Sat Nav....then this is the map for you.
Clear, but with plenty of detail if you get lost in the back of beyond.Good route planning pages and spiral bound so you can fold it back without the cover falling off.

A-Z GB Super Scale Road Atlas
An excellent buy. Very clear maps at a decently large scale. Spiral back really essential if the thing is to last. Additional information (Services etc.) very useful. Also road distances (between points) well indicated.
Size of page decently large. I suggest slightly firmer covers would be a help (and contribute to longevity).

Having been used to this map for years when navigating with my parents, I then ended up with a different road atlas that my husband chose. I didn't like it at all, as I'd been used to seeing all the detail at road junctions that the A-Z road atlas provides. So when we needed to update our road atlas, I got to pick this time... No confusion with restricted access at junctions on motorways and dual carriageways again!

SPIRAL BINDING IS THE ONLY WAY!
The biggest deal with this is that it uses SPIRAL BINDING; the wire (actually I think it's plastic) is continuous and goes THROUGH every hole which means pages cannot slip out. Read more
