Harry finds himself dead, hit by a lorry when he was out on his bike. He ends up in a queue, waiting to be registered into a computer. He meets a victorian boy, who is also dead. He tells Harry that when they have finished their unfinished business, they move onto the Blue Yonder, the orange glow in the sky. Harry finds that what he wants to do is say sorry to his sister, who he had an argument with before he left the house on his bike to get knocked over by the lorry. Some parts of this story, are funny, but other parts make you feel like you want to cry. It is quite an unusual book, as I have never read about how it feels to be dead. It is not depressing. It makes you think about how people are important to you, but you never realise at the time. I think that it is suitable for people my age (11-12)but I think that adults would enjoy it too, if they were looking for a good, but easy read.

I thought this book was extremley well written, and presents the reader with a wonderful insight to one persons view if the afterlife. This book had me captivated from beginning to end, and i would recommend it to anyone, adult or child. I never wanted the book to finish, just wanted it to carry on forever.

The Great Blue Younder is one of the best childrens book that I have read in a long time.
The story is about a young boy, called Harry - who dies in a tragic accident, shortly after a bitter row with his older sister in which hurtful words were said agaist one and another. Harry, feeling guilty for what he had said in his temper; before his untimly death, can not rest till he apologieses to her.
This heartwarming book is nicly laid out with Harry telling the story, using words which I have never found in children books before - but which makes it seem more real and down to earth.
Alex Shearer not only gives us a good book that you wont be able to put down, memoral and likeable chariters who, in times, you will feel for; but also the frightening fact that we should never argue with our siblings as anything could happen.
The Great Blue Younder does deserve some kind of award.
