Interesting Soups...but Too Many Errors 3 Feb 2012
By Lucy Ditty - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are some interesting recipes in here - the first one sounds particularly tasty.

Some of the measurements are confusing, though, and could trip someone up or potentially ruin a recipe. A tablespoon is 3 teaspoons. Some recipes give ingredients in "1/4 tbsp" quantities. The abbreviation "tbsp" is tablespoon, and 1/4 tablespoon is 3/4 teaspoons. My measuring spoons have tablespoon, teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, and 1/4 teaspoon. I believe 1/4 *tsp* was intended. There's a big difference between 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and 3/4 teaspoon, since some people are not garlic fans. Believe me, if I use more than 1/4 teaspoon, someone in my house starts complaining about "garlicky" food.

The gazpacho recipe has one HECK of a typo in it, at least I sure hope it's an error, because it calls for "1/4 tbsp of tobacco sauce." That was definitely my "wait, what?" moment of the day. I am guessing "Tabasco" was intended. Please, please fix this before a cook goes out to find someone who chews tobacco. (Okay, yes, I'm kidding about that last bit, but it should be fixed.)

The cabbage borscht recipe doesn't have beets in it; how can it be borscht without beets? Were they left out accidentally or is it cabbage soup?

All in all, this is a nice little collection of about 15 recipes but the flaws make it impossible for me to give this more than 2 stars. I can't help but wonder if there are errors that I didn't catch. If I make any of these recipes, I'm going to be very, very careful. I hope the authors will put a revision up at some point.

Nice Cover 4 Feb 2012

This little Kindle book has an attractive cover, and a catchy title. Inside, there are only 15 recipes. There is no biography, no nutritional info, & no photos.

Good stuff! Some unique recipes. 3 Feb 2012
By MagicTeacher - Published on Amazon.com

I made three of these soups so far and the were very good. There's a lot of great options to create something different your family will enjoy. There are a two spots where the tablespoon amounts seem off,so you might want to flavor to your individual tastes when adding stuff like garlic or salt. Can't wait to make more of these!
