This is the album that introduced me to Robert Carver - there are three splendid cds of his work recorded. The title piece Graysteil, tho abridged to 18+ minutes is one of the best introductions to sung epic poetry recorded. The Orkney Island pieces are particularly fascinating as the islands were still under Norwegian rule. The Art of Music was a response to the repression of music that arose with the Protestant sentiments.
Great music and a great reminder of history. This album is well worth listening to - again and again.
