As a HUGE fan of the 'Thea Osborne' tales, I approached this new series featuring undertaker, Drew Slocombe, with mixed feelings. Whilst the plots are every bit as good as the Cotswolds Mysteries, I can't help but feel that Ms Tope tends to go overboard on the 'green' burial element of the stories. I understand that she was once a funeral director herself and therefore has a great knowledge of all things funereal, however I do find her descriptions of the various stages of bodily decomposition a little too graphic - in modern parlance "too much information"... I usually read novels as way of relaxation, a bit of escapism, but these latest books simply leave me depressed! (Maybe I'm just becoming a bit long in the tooth and don't wish to be reminded of my own mortality...)
