Product Description

The grape is a sun-loving hardy deciduous woody-stemmed climber from Asia-Minor and the Caucasus. It does best in a temperate climate with springs free of frost and long warm summers. This concise, illustrated handbook contains detailed information on all aspects of grape care, providing invaluable reference for amateur gardeners and experienced growers alike. The straightforward approach to essential techniques, together with advice on tackling pests and other problems, and the directory of recommended varieties, will ensure successful results.

Looking for a book on grapevine growing, I happened across this one on Amazon. Being a Wisley product, it is packed with solid well proven information and advice on the successful growing of all types of grapes for dessert and winemaking. There is an abundance of good photographs. To my mind this is the only book on the subject necessary for anyone wishing to learn everything there is to know about grape vine culture. Highly recommended.

Definitely Concise! 8 Dec 2010

Format:Paperback
As this book is about choosing varieties and growing them in the UK I expected more pictures of the different types available. However this does give equal coverage to growing under glass and in the open, with a section on pests and diseases. The diagrams of training methods are clear and the text is easy to read and understand. Best in combination with other titles. Definitely concise!
