Product Description

An axe is only as good as its smith Gransfors back this up by stamping each individual hand forged axe with the makers initials, and offer a 20 year guarentee against defective workmanship... can you name another axe producer that offers this? The Wildlife hatchet has a 3" face and a 13 1/2 " hickory handle and the head weighs 1lb.It is small and light weight and can be easily carried on your belt or in your ruck sack. It comes with a grain-leather sheath. Even with a small axe you can manage a lot, the Wildlife Hatchet is suitable for chopping and splitting sticks for the campfire and cutting branches in your back yard. Each axe comes complete with an Axe book offering advice on how to care for your axe as well as tips on firewood, limbing a log and other axes available in the range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accept no substitutes 18 May 2012
I can not recommend enough.

I have had this hatchet for 6 months now. We have recently moved to a house that uses a wood burning stove and I've had to use this and the Gransfors Splitting maul to help with my wood pile.

This item is quality. Worried about paying a lot for this compared to what you can get at B&Q? Buy one of these, they are far superior. Or, if buying for a gift like mine was? Do it, the recipient will thank you every time they see you.

I don't have more money than sense, but I started out by buying a cheap splitter (£30) and hatchet (£20) before these. I've since given them away. I now own two top quality tools. These things do what they say on the tin. I've used the hatchet to chop branches thicker than my legs with ease. The Maul splits rounds that my heavier and cheaper maul bounced off. (I've since given the cheaper version to my boss - I just didn't use it)

This is top quality guaranteed stuff. You will (like me) become obsessed with how good this is and find any excuse to use it. I'm also going to have a collection of these one day...

Buy it now. It will last you a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect 14 Jan 2011

This axe is beautiful. It even comes with a little book which is a good read if you're interested in axes and what makes one axe different from another. There's a picture inside of all the people who work for Gransfors and you can locate the guy who made your axe as his initials will be stamped on the head.

It seems pretty expensive at [...] but it comes with a pretty good guarantee, either 20 or 25 years can't recall, this lessens the blow of the price. I've not had the chance to use mine but it is very sharp and I'm sure I'll have no problems with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gransfors Wildlife hatchet 7 Aug 2011
When people say this axe is sharp, they really do mean sharp! The quality of this axe is outstanding, and it comes with a 20 year guarantee. It is comfortable to hold and light and easy to use. Because it is so sharp, this makes any job you do with this axe quite effortless, and it's a joy to use. Is it worth the price tag? Absolutely! You pay for what you get, and yes, there are cheaper axes around, but having originally bought a cheaper axe that does not cut the mustard, they are a false economy. This axe is easy to sharpen up back to being razor sharp again, unlike my cheap axe which never got anywhere near as sharp as the Gransfors axe.
