This story is one of my all time favorites for children. My children are grown, but I cherish my copy to read to my grandchildren some day. The illustrations are charming and it is probably one of the best "read aloud" books I have my collection.

This is a lovely book for all ages. The rhyme makes it fun and easy for young readers to recite while using wonderful word choices and not "dumbing down" the vocabulary. This is a sweet story with gentle characters and phenomenally detailed, richly colored pictures. I loved this book and read it as a child... now I'm reading it to my daughter and I still enjoy it.
