First off... a word about the people who supplied me via Amazon. In this instance it was Active Outdoors (also possibly known as Spinn.co.uk...both names featured during my correspondence with them). My delivery went slightly awry as the parcel was split and only one tin was inside instead of the two I ordered. Having contacted the supplier, who hardly ever have issues with the strength of the packaging, I suspect the parcel had been tampered with somewhere in the Royal Mail system (there was a clean-ish cut right across the package which didn't look as though it could easily have happened accidentally), and I did make representations to the Post Office, however the suppliers responded to my email almost straight away and kindly offered to send a replacement - which they did and which arrived literally the next day, having been sent First Class post. Absolutely first class service from them - thank you.

And back to the item.... As per the title. Used it on boots mainly and never had cause to regret it.

There is currently a choice of numerous products to treat your boots and other leather outdoor wear with. As well as G Wax you could use dubbin (both the hard 'Woly Wax' and the soft 'Cherry Blossom' dubbin....see my reviews), or Nikwax Aqueous Liguid, then there's Neatsfoot Oil or Hydrophane Leather Dressing Oil as well as ordinary shoe polish - either black, brown or neutral. I honestly think you could use any of the above (and I have used all the above) and you'd preserve the leather but I'd say the G wax is as easy and as effective as any and there would be no possibility of the dubbin rotting stitching, as per the old wives tale.

Like Ernie in his review below, I put this wax onto a pair of boots and it didn't soak in, leaving the boots sticky and covered in white wax which wouldn't rub in no matter what I tried. Boots went to the back of the cupboard and I considered it a waste of time and money. After a while I fished them back out and decided to try to melt the wax, which worked fabulously. So, first use a hairdryer quite close to the claggy boots and you can see the wax melt and soak into the leather, leaving a mottled effect which still looks quite rubbish. Then slightly soften the top of the wax in the container with the hairdryer, rub it in over the whole mottled mess and put the hairdryer on the boots again and everything turns out looking nice and even. Then give them a quick rub. I may be setting myself up as one of the world's greatest saddoes, but watching wax soak into boots is very satisfying.

15 year old boots, waxed with TLC, have remained waterproof, with water beading off, for almost a year, the best stuff I've ever used

This goo really does do what it says on the tin! Leaky seams on my trusty boots disappeared as if by magic after one application. Forget hair driers etc, just spread it on with your nice warm fingers. Pleasant smell too.

I have always used gwax to waterproof my walking boots. No material can withstand puddles streams and waterlogged grass without help and gwax does help to keep your feet dry on drizzly Lakeland days.

I walk dogs for a living and therefore I'm out in all weathers and terrain. I wax my leather boots on a regular basis (generally weekly during our very wet winter) and Granger's G-Wax is waterproof and keeps the leather supple. It is also very good value for money. I can recommend applying it with your fingers opposed to using a cloth as you don't use so much wax and if you then either leave the boots for a short time in the sun or lightly use a hairdryer on the boots then the wax really penetrates the leather and it works even better. Don't leave them in the heat too long though else you'll only end up drying out the leather instead. Just a little tip. I've bought G-Wax for years so I can highly recommend it.

Best stuff you can get. Have spent many a therapeutic hour waxing my precious meindls since this arrived... they are no longer a lovely pale calf- more dark luscious brown but at least I know the leather oozes with health and waterproofing.
Thoroughly recommend over all other waxes.
