Book Description

6 Sep 2012
Grandmothers have been handing out advice for centuries and their tried and tested methods are often the answer to many modern day problems. Did you know that malt vinegar and baking soda are as good as any branded cleaning product? That you can make your own delicious lemonade? Or shampoo that's perfect for your hair colour? Or what the best way to banish nasty bruises and a nagging toothache is? In "Grandmother's Wisdom" you'll find all the recipes, tips and good old common sense that your grandmother has learned and put into use throughout her life. All the methods are tried and tested and actually work - not an old wives' tale in sight! Charming, entertaining and practical, "Grandmother's Wisdom" is the perfect gift for someone needing a little bit of grandma's guidance.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a lovely book! 2 Feb 2010

I was given this book as a present and have thoroughly enjoyed dipping into it. It's full of useful tips written in a lively and approachable style. This would be great for students, new parents, new grandparents or anybody setting up home and needing some common sense advice. Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy tips to send to your kids! 1 Feb 2010
Format:Hardcover
For an awfully selfish reason, I love this book. I sent a copy overseas to each of my adult offspring. My children are now parents themselves and for the past few years the number of midnight "mum, how do I deal with..." phone calls had been on the increase. This book helped reverse the trend; now i get more sleep and i'm still a good grandma! Thanks Lee Faber!

5.0 out of 5 stars A traditional compendium of sound advice 1 Feb 2010
Format:Hardcover
This is exactly the kind of book you need on your kitchen shelf. Warmly personal, and unfailingly practical, Lee Faber offers advice on topics such as cleaning, health issues, food and entertaining, even family relationships. This is a wide-ranging, and delightful book, - one to which you will turn many times when you need a solution, or even a friendly paragraph or two with a cup of coffee!
