5.0 out of 5 stars GTA5, Looks and plays better than ever! 18 Nov. 2014
By MrE TOP 100 REVIEWER

There were two sides to GTA 5 on the Xbox 360. On the one hand you had the single player storyline which was sensational and the other was the online multiplayer which never seemed to gain traction due to a delayed and poor start. Well, GTA 5 on Xbox One is a different kettle of fish!

For those that are new and never played the game on previous generation consoles GTA 5 is mainly a 3rd person open world action adventure and shooter game, at the touch of a button however you can now switch to the new first person mode which really works well when you are driving or shooting and gives you a different perspective of the game especially as you walk around. The game is set on an island where the main city in the south is called Los Santos, unlike past games where the map was completely built up, GTA 5 features a lot of countryside/mountain locations and naturally you can go anywhere and do practically anything from skydiving to searching the ocean depths in a mini sub. The map is easily the biggest and most feature packed compared to any GTA game from the last few years.

The main story remains identical to the previous generation version so don't expect any new surprises apart from the graphical jump. What is the story about? You play the part of 3 different characters; Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Each character has different missions but some of the missions incorporate more than two characters and you can switch between the three characters pretty much whenever you like, they each bring different things to the table and the banter and chit chat along the way is absolutely hilarious. It's not all storyline missions however; there are hundreds of side quests (small offbeat missions) and indeed you don't have to do the missions at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Incredible 7 Jan. 2015
Platform for Display:Xbox One| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
Everyone knows the masterpiece that is GTAV, so I'll talk about the next gen version: I'd already completed this on 360, but felt compelled to buy it again. The visuals are now crisp, more alive, busier and look absolutely incredible.. Watching the sun setting over Mount Chiliad is stunning and don't get me started on the ocean! In addition to these visuals there's the first person mode which Rockstar have made from scratch, they've modelled all the guns, hands, feet animations, in car dashboards which work, every vehicle interior... Seriously it's ridiculious how talented those guys and girls at Rockstar are. Online now supports 30 players, which is the area I've been putting most of my time into because it's so much fun, so packed full of variety and an absolute blast with mates. It's GTAV you've played before, but now THE BEST version ever! Seriously, buy it again!

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent GTA action 22 Jan. 2015
By Mike

Well what can I say excellent GTA action as per the norm. Why only three stars? That's more to do with Rockstar than the game! If you do not own GTA V on another platform its 5 stars plus if however you are upgrading like me then its only 3 the additional content is nice but I really feel cheated that it cost so much / there was no trade in for the 360 version like was done with Battlefield / Call of Duty / Fifa 14. The first person mode is good to play with but my personal preference made me switch back to classic third person mode before long. So yes the game is great but if not for my friends upgrading I wouldn't have bothered.

Having been a half hearted GTA fan since the originals I tend to buy them and play them on and off. This for me was right up there like Vice City was around ten years ago, upon playing I was gripped. Although I'm only half way through I have really enjoyed getting to where I am and looking forward to completing it but not in a great rush as I don't want it to end.

The one way of prolonging the fun is to play online, this is fun and annoying at the same time depending on the sessions you go to play. If you want to play with your crew mates or xbox live friends be in for some long load times and some annoyances in trying to join them! When you do play and have play lists to get into this is when it is great fun without the hassle.

First person mode is great fun but I do still prefer the third person view to drive and so on. The great thing is that you can setup different control methods for each view - this helps no end, you want to play shoot outs like call of duty then simply switch into first person mode, switch back for the normal GTA experience.

By Kevin Trebell TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard Edition
GTA 5 Xbox One is a next gen upgrade of last years massive hit from the Xbox 360 and PS3.

This takes the same game, a third person adventure set in the fictional Los Santos city, where you play as three different characters as they work their way through a story of gangland, villains, outcasts and the world of crime within a huge open sandbox in which you can go off and find your own adventures whenever you wish, as has been the theme of this series.

Much has been said about the core single player game that was launched last year and this is exactly the same game. The difference is upgraded visuals looking crisp and lovely in 1080p with stunning lighting and a busier world and with a new first person view that gives a (literally) fresh perspective on the whole story (and is fantastic for vehicles such as bikes).

On top of this the game launches with the impressive GTA Online offering that launched after the original game. Again this gets the next gen treatment and has the added bonus of being able to transfer your character from last gen (as long as your live or psn account was linked to R* Social Club). Your character comes across with their money giving a perfect launching pad for experienced players. You can of course create a fresh character if you'd prefer to start all over again on the platform.

The online thus far has been smooth and impressive and easy to jump in and out of, exactly as it should be, seamless.

Overall this is a hugely impressive offering. It is a massive generous game full of content (on and offline) and has received an impressive upgrade. For new players it's an essential game but there is enough here to tempt old players back to the game on their shiny new console. Recommended.
