5.0 out of 5 stars RRRADIO ESPANTOSO! 14 May 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Although this quirky radio station with its mad DJ may not be the first choice of gamers below 30, there is nothing better than crusing downtown to any of the red hot mambo tracks included on the CD. Included are such classics as 'Mambo Mucho Mambo' by Machito and the Afro-Cuban Orchestra and 'Super Strut'. As is usual on any of the GTA Vice City compelations, you get a unique cheat code, some very funny DJing by Pepe and a couple of hilarious and frankly bordering on the non - pc adverts to finish off.
To avid followers of the GTA series this is the most chilled out compelation on the most accomplished soundtrack of any game to date. To people who have not played the game, however, this is a authentic compelation of all the best latin jazz and salsa from across the world. If you enjoy this album or 80s music especially, i recommend the Fever and Wildstyle CDs. Vive Espantoso!

5.0 out of 5 stars Espantoso- Y Viva latinos! 11 Mar 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is very much different from the other GTA Vice City music albums, as this is not really commercial at all, certainly not stuff you get in the charts on a regular basis.
However, this is very much a pearl lurking within an oyster, as this is a wonderful collection of jazz, latino and salsa music. Well, anything with Tito Puente and Beny Moré (two genius musicians) has to be worth something! Seriously, this is very very good for chilling to, and if you love jazz, latino and salsa you will be in heaven on listening to this. Plus "DJ Pepe" is amusing, and the "ads" are just hilarious(as anyone who has played GTA Vice City will tell you)!
It's easy to ignore this as it is not what most people will like. Rock and roll this ain't. However, if you have played Vice City and not heard this, believe me you are missing out, this is a gem. As for whether you should buy this, well I would say yes if you like this style, or are open to something different. You will not be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loco Hombre loco! 8 April 2003
By Mr. A. G. Liddle VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
C'mon guys. Vice city is all about Medallions the size of hub-caps and enough aftershave to drown a household pet. Let Don Pepe take you down to the barrio and lay some hot cuban/jazz sounds on you. The CD could be seen as a marketing gimmick but any compilation including the giant of cuban bass, Cachao and the late lamented Xavier Cugat has got to be worth the price of entry. As Pepe might say ... Pa Gozar!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The highest quality radio station in Vice City 17 Mar 2003
By G. M. Jenkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Radio Espantoso hopefully will introduce a whole new generation to New York Latin Big Band Jazz, late 70s latin jazz funk, and such huge artists as Mongo Santamaria.
Of all of the Vice City soundtracks, i find this one to have the most consistent musical quality. There is only one song on this whole album I dislike ("La Vida Es Una Lenteja" by Unresta which is an unauthentic track made especially for the game). I am also not too into the tracks by Irakere and Beny More. Every other song on this album, i absolutely love. I listen to this one more than any other Vice City soundtrack.
The two Deodato tracks, "Super Strut" and "Latin Flute" contain great 70s funk with virtuosic solos. Mongo Santamaria's "Me And You Baby" contains an awesome trumpet solo at the beginning and cool albeit slightly cheesy vocals. "Jamay" by Xavier Cugat and his Orchestra is a dramatic and epic latin big band song. Tito Puente's "Mambo Gozon" is a certified classic, and "A Gozar Con Mi Combo" by Cachao contains really cool arrangements that include a meaty clarinet part.
This album is a very good introduction to Latin Big Band and 70s Jazz. I will most likely buy albums from some of these artists and i just really love this album. So especially if you like this radio station in the video game, or if you just are interested in getting your feet wet with this type of music, get this album right away!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Acid Jazz, Latin Procussion, Funk, and Brass Sound 14 Nov 2004
By Justin T - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I agree with the previous reviewer, this is definitley the highest quality station on the game. It captures the the essence of the game perfectly, set in Miami where there is a large latino population this station in itself could be the whole soundtrack to the game with ease. My favorite tracks are "super strut" by Deodato which is an amazing display of funk mixed with a latino acid jazz touch, "expansions" by the acid jazz/funk master Lonnie Liston Smith, this track has an amazing array of instruments. Overall this album has the best flowing sound to it and it is the best out of any of the other soundtracks, but please check out the WILDSTYLE station and the FEVER 105 Station, each have a pretty good collection of cuts.

4.0 out of 5 stars One song is missing... 15 Jun 2005
By Very_few_reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Excellent soundtrack, one of the best.

Can't give it 5 stars cause as someone said it lacks one song: "Yo te mire", from "Tres apenas como eso", one of the best (and most played) songs of the game.
