5.0 out of 5 stars You forget a thousand things everyday pal ..... 9 Dec. 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
I played the GTA V campaign on 360 3 times, really beat the hell out of it until I thought I'd never be interested enough to play again. Then the PS4 version comes along and I'm faced with the 'is it worth it' dilemma, anyways I took the plunge and plumped up the forty notes... After an extended install the thing starts and I'm waiting with baited breath for the 'next gen GTA V experience' and it's a little underwhelming, draw distance improved, textures more defined etc but nothing astounding. A little later I'm playing through the missions, flipping back and forth from FC4, when I find myself driving at night in the rain.... I stop, get out of the car and just look around, just look around in wonder at Los Santos in the rainy night.... the sky is filled with raindrops and neon, the puddles are filled with droplet splashes, the car shimmers and glistens with millions of raindrops. I walk and walk in the rainy night, just looking and wondering as the roads overflow with shimmering water, the distant city coruscates and Michael's suit hangs heavy with water. And later, much later, a desert sunset breaks my heart... Just do it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Single player is great. Multi player not so... 27 Dec. 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
The story mode is rich in detail. The three main characters all have interesting personalities and combined this increases the interest of the story. The seperate characters also allow you to play GTA in three different ways that you envision to play the game as. For instance Trevor can be you mad messed up kinda guy whilst Franklin can be a stylish guy with nice cars. The gameplay mechanics is typical GTA style with improved car handling from different versions.

The thing stopping GTA getting 5*'s is online! GTA online is very inconsistent in putting you in lobbys with other people. There is also issues of random disconnections in the lobby which is happening to this day of this review. Furthermore the system for GTA missions and races is terrible. Want to just play GTA races? Good luck trying to find a lobby with enough people to enjoy the race. Also once you've done the race the voting system does not give you 6 different choices of races! Instead it'll give you 1 or 2 max and then give you options for GTA missions etc. If I wanted to go on missions I would select the mission mode! Imagine playing TDM on COD and then in the voting lobby the majority of options are not TDM. It's annoying and causes lobbys to break up reducing player count in the lobbys.

Overall single player wise you cannot fault the game. Multiplayer wise if you don't have friends to play the game with then the constant loading screens and trying to get in to lobbys will probably get really annoying. If you have friends it's easier cause you can play together.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best just got better. 20 Nov. 2014

I don't think I really need to explain the minute details of what GTA V is about, unless you have been living under a rock for the past year you'll know what it is, the good and the controversial. Short version, you play 3 characters Michael, Trevor & Franklin as they strive to survive in the fictional American city of Los Santos, no doubt loosely based on Los Angeles.
So what's new? Probably the biggest change is the new "First Person" mode. This is not a constant mode but you can choose to use it. It adds a completely new dimension to the game. ALL the vehicles have interiors you can look round whilst you are in them, (something Gran Turismo hasn't managed yet despite being a dedicated driving game). Wandering round in First Person almost makes it a completely new game, it really does change things. You are not forced into this new perspective, but it is definitely worth more than a passing glance. You can even choose to have options such as when you take cover you revert to Third Person view so you can see more, Rockstar have really thought about this one.
Graphically, with the improved power of the PS4 graphically it has been polished, it was in no way shabby on the PS3 but it is better make no mistake, cactus's now have spines, the hair on both people and animals now looks more natural as opposed to a plastic hair piece, as crazy as it sounds watching the rain is amazing, you see the splashes in the puddles, the water actually pools naturally, the light reflections in the pools look amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games of all time! 24 April 2015
By DANNY P
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard Edition
I think everyone know what gta 5 is about. I've been playing gta 5 since day 1 on 360 and once I got a ps4 at Christmas I have been playing it on ps4. I've now completed the story on both 360 and ps4 and it's a very good story and the missions are good fun. It does feel a bit short in comparison to San Andreas but it's still very good. The 3 person story is a very interesting way of doing it and it's worked very well. The only problem I have with story mode which isn't really that important is that there's no ability to buy houses and there isn't much of a feeling of progression in the world as Michael has a huge house and Franklin gets one very early on. Trevor's a hillbilly so he just stays in his caravan. Overall the storymode is tonnes of fun and is very repayable. Now online is where it does it for me. I have played online so much. It's literally the only game I play on a regular basis on my ps4. You can now play with 29 other players on the map and since free dlc releases there has been a mountain of vehicles. You can own up to 30 garaged vehicles and a load of helicopters, planes, boats etc. However, there are two big problems for me in regards to gta online. 1. You are not able to purchase even a medium sized house, never mind a mansion. They're there so why not let us buy them? You can purchase a number of apartments, garages and small houses. 2. It still is and always has been difficult to have a lot of cash. I've played gta online abide launch and I've never had a lot and have never been able to go on a spending spree. Even heists didn't help. These are some annoying problems but it still doesn't take away from the fact that gta 5 and gta online is a masterpiece. Well done Rockstar
