What does the American Dream mean today?

For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and are dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don’t.

Beginning with the 1997 release of the original Grand Theft Auto, the GTA series has been one of the most prolific, controversial and down right entertaining franchises in video games history. This pedigree of success guarantees that the highly anticipated eleventh game in the series, Grand Theft Auto IV, will garner at least as much attention if not more.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a brand new adventure in the GTA universe following the experiences of Nikolai "Niko" Bellic, a new immigrant from an undisclosed eastern European country whose troubled pa st and the persuasion of his cousin Roman have brought him to the fictional Liberty City. Unfortunately, Niko’s search for the American Dream and a much needed fresh start, hits an immediate snag when the rags to riches story Roman spun to pique Niko's interest is exposed as not only a complete fabrication, but a ploy to enlist Niko’s well-known skills as a tough guy against the ample list of enemies clamouring for Roman’s debt-ridden blood.

Because Roman is the only person Niko knows in Liberty City he begrudgingly accepts his role as Roman’s protector despite the deception. But

Having played this game for over 2 weeks now, I still cant wait to get on my PS3 to play more, To have the 2 add-ons as well as the original game on 1 disc is fantastic.

The game itself is very well done, Saints row 2 came out at the same time 2008, Both are different open world games, SR2 being about gangs, GTA 4 does beat SR2 on graphics easily, I also believe the size of Liberty City is much bigger than Stillwater, There is a lack of customisations in GTA 4, You can take a car into a spray shop, But you cant choose the colour it comes out in, I do like the way you can interact with the people you know, By taking them out to places like Bowling, Darts, Play Pool and even go to a Strip club and yes you can even get a lap dance.

The missions can get a bit frustrating, Like when you die you have to start back at the beginning (usually have to drive half way across the city to get to the main mission) Also when you are in a chase, You could easily loose your target, Be it crashing into something or skidding past your turn, Liberty city has many of them, This does make it more realistic though so that is a good thing right.

I don't want to bore you with a massive review, So yes I would definitely recommend this game to any body, Also at this price (£11.52 when I bought it) You cant go wrong.

To think about America. The land of the free. Home of the brave. A place full of opportunity. And the Dream. The one all migrants know throughout the world. The American Dream. But what exactly does it mean today?

GTA IV is set in Libery City, based on the design and lifestyle of America's most recognisable city. New York. Here lies the dreams of the three titular characters of this gaming collection:
- Niko Bellic, the eastern european immigrant looking to find a better life in America with his cousin, Roman.
- Johnny Klebitz, vice-president of The Lost Motorcycle Club trying to keep the club alive in the midst of war.
- Luis Lopez, enforcer and business partner to Tony 'Gay Tony' Prince, owner of the best night life in Liberty City.

All of them are linked together by an uknown force and trying to stay afloat, to survive in the urban jungle where they are constantly surrounded by guns, gangs and some of the most twisted individuals in the criminal underworld, the competiton of business and the government itself. But when honest living doesn't work, where else do you turn to provide for your family? Crime is all these individuals know and it's what they're best at.

The Grand Theft Auto has always held some of the greatest stories, in-game dialogue and charcater development in any game series in the last twenty years. This game is no exception. The plot is exhilirating at times, dull at others to just push you in another twist in the story that makes you really think about what the American Dream really means today.
Gameplay is clear cut, fun and excting. You can drive, ride and steer almost everything you can get your hands on from simple motorbikes and cars to helicopters and small tanks.

GRAND THEFT AUTO: IV. Without a doubt one of the best titles to be released on current generation consoles (XBOX 360 and Playstation 3). What was originally released individually has now been packaged together in one excitingly epic bundle within a single Blu-Ray disc at a lower price than these games were at launch. If you're new to the Grand Theft Auto universe then I'd say this is an excellent place to begin your journey; if you're an experienced veteran (or similar) and have become interested in this package then I would yet again recommend the GRAND THEFT AUTO: COMPLETE EDITION to you.

My journey within Liberty City began back in April 2009. Back then, GTA:IV was still a fairly new game and at the time I have to say, I enjoyed it immensely. The main game, GTA:IV, sees the player jump into the shoes of Niko Bellic; a middle-eastern immigrant who has arrived in Liberty on the Pegasus (a ship) and just like everyone on board the Pegasus, he is in pursuit of the 'American dream'. Having his hopes realized by his hilariously bubbly cousin's emails, Niko left his homeland in order to live alongside his Cousin 'Roman Bellic' who was supposedly made it in America and was living the life of dreams however; shortly after arriving in the foreign land, Niko became aware Roman had been lying to him when he discovers Roman is nothing more than a budget cab-driver involved with loan-sharks and criminals. This is how the story of GTA:IV begins, Niko becomes determined to make it to the top after he became tired of low-lives treating Roman with utmost disrespect.

GTA: IV will last you as long as you can play it (basically forever).

This game will keep you entertained for hours. The world is wonderfully developed and the amount of missions is more than enough to keep you going for long hours. At first the controls are a bit confusing, but after getting used to them and thanks to the constant in-game help, the actions come in naturally.
