Reading the first page in Le Grand Cahier, struck me with unusually simple language. Which is very good for someone learning french and rarely understanding everything he reads.
The book completely attacked me from behind. Read two pages.. it had the most incredable humour, short enough to read in one or two nights, and deep and healthy as anything before sleep.

The three books that form Agota Kristof's trilogy are good books to read in French. The language is pretty simple. Although the Le Grand Cahier is harrowing - I breathed a sigh of relief when I finished it as it was so awful in parts - the last two are nothing like as painful to read. All in all, I am glad I bought them and certainly it has helped my French.
