You are called to adventure again by the quirky and at times hilarious Merlin in J H Brennan's second Grail Quest book. This time a dragon is on the loose and you have to track it down and kill it. All the same great features from the first book are still there, such as dreamtime where you can get healed or just as likely get killed and sent to the dreaded section 14. New innovations include the mysterious Stonemarten Village which you can explore sandbox-style via a double page map. This time around in addition to firefingers and fireballs, you get a whole load of new spells, which in typical J H Brennan style have tongue in cheek names.
Most important of all the book is written as a continuation of Castle of Darkness and any items you have accrued, you get to keep. There is also a notion of character advancement in form of permanent life point gain. Of course if you haven't played book 1 then this book eases you in just fine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this gamebook. The writing style is very entertaining and the game gives you plenty of things to doesn't kill you off unfairly (well, usually).
