Product Description

As big-hearted PC Tony Stamp - the TV cop closest to the real thing - Graham Cole is instantly recognisable after pounding the beat of fictional Sun Hill in The Bill for two decades. Now, in a witty and candid memoir, Graham reveals his own rise to stardom starting out in television as an extra playing monsters in Doctor Who opposite Tom Baker and Peter Davison and appearing in episodes of shows such as Only Fools and Horses, Blake s Seven and Secret Army. His skill at stage fighting landed him work as an extra in The Bill and he was soon given a full-time job as area car driver and all-round good guy Tony Stamp. ON THE BEAT is the entertaining autobiography of a likeable star who reveals the inside story behind the scenes of Britain s favourite police drama and the ups and downs of an actor s life.

About the Author

Graham Cole is one of television s most familiar faces and starred as popular PC Tony Stamp in ITV s long-running police drama The Bill for more than 20 years. Now his autobiography has been revised and updated and is available for the first time in paperback. Publication will tie-in with the end of The Bill after 27 years on television.

PC STAMP RULES 13 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover
As we all know the actor Graham Cole who brilliantly played PC Tony Stamp for 25 years in The Bill has been axed from the show.

On reading Graham's book you find a real human being who went out with the real Police to perfect his role in the Bill and it paid off as he was a very believable police officer.

It was interesting to read things about Graham's life I never knew but I won't tell you what they are as you can read the book for yourself, there is no scandal or back biting just a very honest account of things on and off screen.

Graham will be sorely missed from The Bill.

What a story - written by probably the best-loved TV 'copper' since Dixon of Dock Green. Interesting, enthralling and very human in its approach, by a man who lived the East London way, aspired to his acting dream and achieved TV stardom where he is admired and revered by the public, and respected by his police 'colleagues' for the image of the British bobby that he portrays. A worth-while read, obtainable from Amazon with their usual fast and reliable service.

Informative 17 Nov 2009
Format:Hardcover
Being an avid "Bill" fan I expected the contents to be more on these lines but found that it was pleasantly more about Graham which was equally interesting and a good read turning my interest and wanting to know more.

Thank you
