Grado offers a mini adaptor cable that converts a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) plug to 1/8 inch (3.5mm) plug. The mini adaptor cable has a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) plug then 8 inches (20cm) of cable connected to a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) jack. The 8 inches (20cm) of cable eliminates added leverage on the output circuit board of the source. The mini adaptor cable is constructed of the same high quality wire as Grado headphone cable.
Grado guarantees no degradation of sonic quality with Grado headphones while using their mini adaptor cable.

Bought this because the original 6.3 - 3.5mm adaptor on my Sennheiser HD555 headphones got damaged (a poor design which puts a lot of strain on the 3.5mm plug). This Grado adaptor relieves the strain put on the 3.5mm plug because of the extra (approx 6") cable length between the plug and the 6.3mm socket. Also, this adaptor does not degrade the (high quality) sound of the Sennheiser headphones in any way. Great product, highly recommended.

I got this after trying several cheaper adapters, all of which fell apart within a few days, or simply did not work in the first place. In this case I am happy to say it works exactly as it should. The cable and jack design is the same as for Grado headphones, as you'd expect, so it looks pretty good with a set of Grado headphones, but the plain black design probably won't look out of place with anything. Durability-wise I can't say yet, but since it appears to be the same as the cabling on Grado headphones I expect it to last pretty much indefinitely. The whole thing feels very secure and well constructed.
This sounds like a 5-star review, but good as it is, I don't feel the price is justified. Grado equipment is expensive in Europe anyway, even when you consider the generally high price you pay for decent audio equipment, but it's only 15cm of cable and two jacks; really, these should be included with the headphones.

Many cheaper products appear to have problems (just read the reviews) however paying the extra for top quality can sometimes be a worry but Grado products are great quality (I have several Grado items) and really worth the extra, you get what you pay for. The adaptor (which is supplied in a handy storage pouch) allows attaching cables/headphones to interconnect the output appliance without putting any strain on the appliance socket. It utilises sturdy components and I expect it to last a lifetime. These adaptors were not available for several months but I'm glad I waited for it, rather than purchasing a cheaper lower quality part for my sound system. If you can afford it, pay the extra. Recommended.
