This text is a sophisticated and comprehensive introduction to politics in the U.S. The author writes precisely and clearly, making this book an absolute joy to read. Every serious student of U.S. politics -- Americans and non-Americans alike -- should read Dr. Bowles' book from beginning to end.

Format: Paperback
Nigel Bowles, Director of the Rothermere American Institute, is the GOD of American politics. His introduction is incredibly detailed, flawlessly written and analytically outstanding. It can be recommended to anyone studying American politics in an academic context, or simply out of interest. The only downside is its age; when will there be a new edition?

Format: Paperback
Loved it! It may appear a little over bearing for the average A2 student but its worth a few looks at because it talks in detail about the Presidency, third parties and up to about 1998. It obviously does not include new example but you can get those on Wikipedia and the CNN podcast on itunes.
