Product Description

Here's an offshoot from the craze for amigurumi (the crocheting of small, stuffed animals): 20 bite-sized treats that appear deliciously edible. Designed for everyone with the hint of a sweet or savory tooth, none of these treats takes more than an hour or two to make, and each is explained in clear patterns with easy-to-follow instructions for making up.

This is a lovely book. I bought it after borrowing a copy and loving so many of the designs that I had to own it! It is perfect if you want to make 'play food' for children and the little cakes are just beautiful - they do need a very fine yarn but work just as well in wool with a bigger hook, they just end up bigger! This is also the first book I have read about crochet that has explained how to make a 'magic ring' perfectly! Fab! Just wanted to make others aware - it is not a hardcover, as written in the description, but paperback, and actually this is better as the covers have fold-out flaps to use as bookmarks. A truly lovely book!

This book is a little on the simple side - the best pattern in the book by a long shot is the one on the cover. While many of the patterns are either beautiful, quirky or funny, I question how much from this book I will actually crochet. The cheese section, for example is something of a waste of ink. Having said that, I would argue that the cake section alone is worth the price of the book; absolutely beautiful, and easily adaptable. All the patterns in the book specify using crochet cotton and a very small hook. I have been using DK wool and a 3mm hook and have been getting excellent results. It is also worth noting that the book is paperback, not hardback as in the product description.
