Okay, I confess, the writing style in this short novel at first turned me off. No caps, what's that all about? But I wondered that when I was a child and my dad had me reading e.e. cummings, another no caps person. It's art, I told myself. The writer is trying to out do old e.e. But after I got into the book I figured it out. This is the way a lot of people writing on the internet, how they text each other, how they do e-mail, how they blog. My mom would have broken my fingers if they didn't hit the shift key each and every time they were supposed to, but to each his own. I had the book and I was determined to read it.

And I'm glad I did, because I found myself really enjoy the story, those non caps notwithstanding. It's a very good story about two girls who are very similar, but different, who would or could be friends, but who, when the book starts out have never met each other, but who know a lot about each other.

Sixteen-year-old Chelsea lives in L.A. with her mother and Miya, also sixteen, lives in an orphanage in Tokyo. Chelsea's brother Memphis disappeared three years ago and she misses him and Miya is worried about her brother Akio who lives in the orphanage with her. Both girls are obsessed with the Manga called Shonen Rainbow Warrior. Both girls are half Japanese and both girls read and blog on a site for young girls. However, though they've been avid readers of each other's blogs, they have never blogged to each other and they've never commented on each other's blogs.

Then Chelsea stops blogging and Miya misses her. Chelsea feels lost in L.A. Miya in Tokyo fears someone may take her brother and wants to escape. Will the girls find each other? Will they be able to help each other? Though not a thriller in any sense of the word, there is a bit of suspense here and an ending I saw coming a mile away, but loved anyway.
