Fun:
Played on Windows Vista 64bit (run as admin).
Ok, so I bought G2 off the back of enjoying my impulse purchase of G3(still yet to complete), and i must admit, at first i was highly put off & dissapointed by G2's controls. Untill I figured out a good keyboard combination for myself. Simply, using the WASD keys is not workable i found, but the arrow keys make the game feel like any other RPG eventually.
One other problem was that the FMV sequences, were black screend with the audio in the background, but sometimes they randomly played, which was annoying. However this didnt spoil the game for me, as there are only about 3-4 FMV's to watch in the whole game, and you can view them online anyway.
Overall, after getting over the control issue, i am finding G2 to be a delight to play. I found this game to be much more challanging to play than G3, as experience points were harder to get, and train up your character. But this made for some great battles, and having to use battle tactcis to take down more than one foe(gradually you will become stronger and feel a great achivement when defeating earlier enemies that were too strong for you). One example, was dealing with 3 bandits with a low level character, and i managed to draw one away at a time, and lure them into the front of a cave of a shadowbeast(big mumma!), who killed them for me ;0)
It offers a great story, location, varied guilds to side/work with(Thieves/Magic/Army/Mercs etc) & the voice acting is top notch(although G3 voices sound better imo).Definate replayability as usual, with the varied builds & guilds to join. I reccomend this for any RPG'ers collection.

Fun:
This is the type of game where you can feel the passion that has gone into it. If you're looking for an RPG with depth and interesting characters, this is the perfect game for you. Gothic 2 offers an immersive medieval world full of memoral characters and interesting quests and dialogues. The English voices are not as good as the original German ones, but they are not horrible. Just occasionally you might find NPC's having an off-putting accent, but Piranha Bytes, the creators of this game, really aren't at fault.
You can start playing the sequel to the first gothic straight away without having played the first gothic. There are enough hints to help you understand the story.
If you plan on buying this game, I can also recommend Vurt's texture pack for this game. It enhances the textures and plants of the game and improves the graphics! Just type Gothic texture pack into Google. Despite the facts that this game is old and has a low polygon count, it has the kind of engine that ages well. Even today I prefer the lovable graphics over those of Oblivion.
If you're a PC gamer, BUY this game!

This game includes many of the personages of gothic1.
If you want te understand this game completely it's a must to play gothic1 first. Perhaps you think "what can I do with such an old game?" I challenge you to play the old game first and you will be astonished to see what this old game can do with you. I played gothic1 ten times or more I think. After playing gothic1 enjoy playing gothic2.
Its a very nice and very big game. You can go in the gameworld where you wish. There is no path for you to go as in dungeon siege. But perhaps it is no good idea to do always so. But it is possible and that is a fine idea.
So I will recommend this game and the old game too for every rpg fan.
