Review

"An insightful, honest, and spiritual exploration of the intersection of witchcraft and goth culture not only for those who have a foot in each of these worlds, but also for those explorers on one side, seeking to know the ways of the other." ???Christopher Penczak, author of the Temple of Witchcraft series -- Christopher Penczak "book blurb"

Product Description

"Goth Craft is a sexy and serious A-Z of dark culture's collective tribal identity. More than just a demented 'Preppy Handbook' for a different era, Goth Craft goes beyond mere fashion, taking readers deep into the magical currents of this emerging subculture. Fascinating." --Richard Metzger, host of Disinformation and editor of Book of Lies: The Disinformation Guide To Magick & The Occult When Paganism and Goth culture collide, prepare for a powerful blend of independent thought and magickal tranformation. Learn how to channel dark emotions, express yourself magickally through the dark arts of clothing, hair, makeup, body modifications, and choose appropriate Goth music for ritual. Try some spellcasting on the dance floor. Discover the workings of shadow magick, death energy, and blood magick. Find out what draws us to the dark side. "Don't let your assumptions fool you -- Goth Craft is a lovingly written and carefully researched piece of work. It covers the intersection of Gothic subculture and Pagan spirituality from every conceivable angle, and manages to be both fun and eye-catching along the way." --Michelle Belanger, author of The Psychic Vampire Codex and editor of Vampires In Their Own Words "An insightful, honest, and spiritual exploration of the intersection of Witchcraft and Goth." --Christopher Penczak, author of the Temple of Witchcraft series

Something different?? 29 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
I brought this book mainly because I'm a Goth addicted to books on Goth and I'm also a pagan and interested in how to two sometimes cross (no all Goth's are Wiccan/Pagan etc)...

I am slightly disappointed with this book, it's obviously dealing with the basics on how to be Goth and how to do magic but without actually really saying anything new! If you brought Voltaire's "what is Goth" and a Vivienne Crowley (spelling) book then you'd be much better off....

I would suggest that if your interested in the craft and you are a Goth or interested in the genre then it's certainly a book that you should investigate but you've probably read everything in here before or worked it out for yourself! The book does contain a few nice pictures so maybe it's worth a read/look for that!?

I really don't understand how piercing really influence your magical side and Goths don't tend to really go for millions of piercings anyway (check Voltaire's work. Plus there is a whole chapter on the types of Goths that exist (this is age old and is so irrelevant) The book also includes a lot of references to metalgoths and gothic metal... to date I've never met a Goth who will ever admit that this exists.. a martyr for this cause is Martin Oldgoth! Goth should just be Goth!??

But all said and done.. it's only one person's point of view and this is mine.

Well... 26 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
It gave me a different perspective on things, I'll give it that. Lots of pictures, and it was bigger than I expected, also a good thing, and it included lots of little gems like how to refer to a transgender person, and a list of gay friendly deities. As for the section about blood in Hinduism, I think he may have been confused with Islam.

I would not however recommend this book to anyone who is already practising a religion or tradition, but to someone who is thinking about converting or who wants to know more about the spirituality of their friends.

For me however this book had little use.

If you've ever wondered what a Goth is exactly, What types there are, Or what kind of things their into, then this bo0k is for you. The bo0k gives you a thorough breakdown of the lives of every type of Goth there is. It also includes the history of the Goths and the "magic" and symbols some used today.
A great bo0k for anyone into the goth subculture and the occult. It's also a great bo0k for people who are new to this sort of thing, as it's very informative and easy to understand.
An all round enjoyable read, would defo reccomend.
