I've been dithering over whether to buy this for awhile mainly because the release schedule has been handled badly; whereas America is just getting the whole of Season two in one package we have to suffer the episodes being released in two parts and at odd times. The only benefit of buying this is getting the first eleven episodes early because the second half isn't being released until August and just seven weeks before a new box set of the complete season is released! So you'll be paying up to £20 more to own the complete season just a few weeks earlier. I wouldn't mind if the two parts were cheaper and released closer together but this seems a little silly!

Part one: April 13th 2009
Part two: August 10th 2009
The complete Season: September 31st 2009
Season three launch: August 31st 2009

I also think that this season takes awhile to get going. It's after episode eleven that things start to get interesting; Chuck, Blair and Serena's story's are excellent. These later episodes are filled with drama, tension and intrigue and worth paying a little more to own but I'm not sure the first half is...

Part one (three discs):

'Summer Kind Of Wonderful': (5*) The Hamptons is the perfect place for the rich to spend the last few days of Summer...but the secrets and lies have already started. ***Some lovely scenes between a heartbroken Blair and a regretful Chuck***

'Never Been Marcused': (3.5*) Blair tries to make the most out of dating the son of a Duke but a jealous Chuck has other plans.

'The Dark Night': (5*) The lack of passion in her and Marcus's relationship has Blair feeling frustrated.

These series are just so good, make you forget about all the troubles you had during the day.

In my esteem Ed Westwick with his animal magnetism and flawless, genius performance is the key, but I have to say that all the rest of the young actors are great too and their work is admirable as of course the work of all the rest of the crew, especially gaffers, I just love the light.

Music in this series is perfect too; I actually bought new Virgins'' CD after watching these series.

I do look forward to season 3 and meanwhile watching sometimes season 1 and 2 again and again and again...just can't get enough of Ed Westwick and YES IT IS THAT GOOD....but of course art is subjective

LOVE IT!!
OMG, anyone else think that Ed Westwick could so be the next Joker? His acting at the funeral (won't say who's to not give it away) was amazing. Reminded me of Heath Ledger as the Joker, the sneer, the facial contortions. He has got to be the next Daniel Day Lewis, i.e one of the best acters. He steals every scene.

Serena is doing my head in now. Her sickly sweetest is too much to bear, wish her character would change. It is just too too fake. The art guy, Aaron, has been totally mis cast, he should have been sexier than he is, I don't even think he is good looking?! Why would Serena chase after him when she can get anyone??
Blair and Chuck forever xoxoxoxoxox

I have received Season 2 Part 2 but couldn't watch it as it would all be over too soon....So I went back to the beginning and watched them all again! It's brill as I'm picking up so many little subtle things that I missed first time round! I'm currently re watching this series and it's got so much more of an edge than season 1.
My boyfriend ignored it the first time round but this time he started watching at the end of season 1 and he's watching it with me now, he loves it!! He totally loves Chuck, he has a slight man crush on him lol.
Awesome Awesome Awesome Never Stop Creating Gossip Girl. Would miss it so much it they stopped it!!!!!
You know I love you!

Apart from episode 14 on disc 4 of this dvd set, there isn't really much in the first few episodes.

14) In the realm of the Basses
This episode has Chuck Bass on a balcony threatening to commit suicide until Blair intervenes. Her affection for him is quite sweet, and the dialogue is quite moving, although I'm not sure about her delivery of the words. Wasn't quite enough depth of emotion for me. Her voice sounded the same as usual as though her words were moving but her emotions weren't.

On disc 5 we are introduced to a new school teacher named Rachel Carr whom Dan Humphrey falls in love with. In episode 18 (The Age of Dissonance) written by Jessica Queller, there is some good writing, and you can't help thinking that she is investing a lot of herself in the series. Headmistress Queller is played by someone who bears a pale resemblance to Jessica Queller. Lily looks like a more attractive version of Jessica. And Serena looks like a younger version of Jessica.

I must admit that Blair looks ravishing in episode 19 (The Grandfather) dressed in an outfit that reveals the contours of her derriere. You can't help wanting to have a taste.

Gossip Girl the second series is back and is as glamourous and sexy as the first series, I was not disappointed! It is highly addictive viewing, if you love fashion, secrets and lies and an escape from the real world, I would recommend this as an indulgent viewing of seeing how the upper class life lives! and watchable over and over again.
