Product Description

Product Description

How come in Church we only ever hear the gospels of four men in Palestine 2,000 years ago? What if we heard a reading from a Fifth Gospel, from the stories of the people sitting next to us? The woman who gave up her child for adoption. The gardener who notices God in the roses. The gay man shunned by his children. The atheist who found he'd become a believer. What if we heard from The Gospel According To Everyone? Twelve short stories of faith and doubt, of love and longing by people you may recognise from a church you've never been to.

These are first person accounts by people living now who have met Jesus. Some make you want to weep. Many challenge our stereotypes of what a Christian is. When I got to the end I had to start again at the beginning to read it again ... slowly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet 8 April 2014

A moving account of the influence of God in the lives of ordinary or perhaps I should say surprisingly extraordinary people. It's a quick read and not written with any literary merit but that's not the point. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and thought provoking. 26 Dec 2013

I like the simple format of this book, the genuine voices of these people. I can picture them so clearly from the portraits and their words as they come along to their local church and feel part of the church family.

4.0 out of 5 stars everyone's a winner 5 Sep 2012

A collection of stories about how ordinary people have found faith and a community to express it in.
This book is encouraging because of the very ordinary-ness of many of the stories - not a lot of Damascan conversion here, just people who encounter meaning and sustenance beyond the ordinary

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful stories 9 Dec 2012
By Alice H - Published on
This is simple yet powerful book, sharing the stories and faith journeys of a very ordinary group of people, brought together in the church. Journalist and writer Martin Wroe writes beautifully and the portraits that accompany the book simply enhance the stories. I didn't know what to expect, and I was just humbled and moved by the stories that were told. Thank you for helping me to remember that everyone has a story.
