I saw a sample preview copy of this book while on a workshop last week-end and highly recommend it. I thought it had a really nice bright clean layout but most of all, lots of new fun modern novelty ideas for boys and girls, adults and children, and now I can't wait to get it when it comes out next week. It is full of great new designs in Debbie's own classic modelling style, clean, simple and yet very effective. As usual, the book is suitable and inspiring to beginners and more experienced cake makers and yet remains accessible to mums at home too, thanks to clear explanations and the minimal use of tools needed. If you liked Debbie's "enchanting" and "fairy tales", this is definitely another one to get.

Having just read this book I am in no doubt that the Author is no less than a genius in her style and creativity and can also string a sentence together which is not beyond anyone's comprehension. The photography is crisp and clear and extremely well put together. The creations are beyond doubt some of the best I've seen from Mrs. B....although every new book she produces becomes an immediate favourite. It would be very difficult to choose a favourite project from this particular book but if pushed I would have to say the Frog Prince who is also featured on the cover will take some beating. Exquisite in design, detail and presentation....Debbie Brown has excelled herself and will be top of the charts with this one for sure. Thank you Debbie for all your hard work.

I've been using Debbie Brown's cake ideas for about 5 years now, and this book is a fabulous addition to my library. I have two daughters, so the (not so) gruesome cakes won't be used very much; yet there are plentiful ideas for both boys and girls here. Ideas include Sea Palace (as my customer photo above shows), Acorn Princess (absolutely beautiful for an autumn birthday), Flower Fairy (all pinks and yellows - gorgeous!), Midnight Fairies (pale blue, silver and white - very delicate), the Frog Princess, a delightful blue spotty dog, a palace in the clouds and a rag doll for the girls. Or Jaws (as described by another reviewer!), an ogre trapped behind bars, an eyeball cake complete with blood (it got a 'yuk' from my girls!), a monster, and alien hand coming out of an alien egg for the boys.

Debbie Brown's style is immaculate, smooth perfection, with the cutest of faces to her characters. No other cake designer matches her in my view. Although my children always give the desired reaction ('WOW thank you Mummy!'), my finished cakes are nowhere near perfect! I use her brilliant instructions and designs to inspire me, & thoroughly enjoy being creative twice a year!

This book is fantastic, it has beautiful pictures and very easy to follow instructions. it has the princess and the frog and an ogre in his hovel plus spiders, eyeballs and fairys and castles there is something for everyone ( 19yr old grandaugther wants the cake with worms coming out of it for her birthday, Nice! ) I can highly recommend this book and in my opinion adults would also love these cakes, I particularly liked Jaws.

Another good Book from Debbie Brown,

This book is great for an experienced Cake decorator, but not so good for a novice.
Th only thing that I can say bad about this book and all other books by Debbie Brown is that the illustrations aren't step by step, very easy to follow for an experienced Cake decorator, but not so good for a novice.

Having said that this book is a worthy investment, and it belongs on on the shelf of every serious cake decorator and those of us that make cakes for fun.

I am a big fan of Debbie Smith and this book does not disappoint. The cakes are all brilliant. They are suitable for adults as well as children. The instructions are easy to follow and the photographs are clear with vivid colours. All the cakes are new, imaginative and innovative. They are also great fun and even the gruesome cakes are pretty gorgeous!!

Once again, the cakes are clearly described step by step, in a pretty idiot proof guide to making a fantastic looking cake. A great book for older children who feel they are too old for the more cute cakes from Debbie Brown's 'easy party cakes'. My kids love poring over the book just to see the pictures too.

Another triumph by the inspirational Debbie Brown: all her collections feature amazing-looking cakes that are deceptively simple to put together, but I think she really comes into her own with the kids' creations. There really is something for everyone here, and whatever the child's personality or age (and yes, a lot of these would be good for "big kids" too) you need never be stuck for the perfect party centrepiece. You can probably tell I'm already a big fan, but believe me, the opinion is justified. This collection in particular comes highly recommended, as does Wallace and Gromit Cracking Celebration Cakes: Over 20 Cake Projects for Special Occasions
