I already have Chefs Secrets which I love and I consider a good inspiring basic book. I was a bit disappointed with Chef for All Seasons, there are a lot of recipes to be fair but they have a more home cooking style and they do not inspire me so much. At the same time I also bought Essence by David Everitt-Matthias and thoroughly recommend it.

cant really say much, my chef partner loves all these cook books, they have amazing stuff in them and keeps him up to dated in the chef world.
