Book Description

Aug 2002
It's funny how just when you're feeling totally in control of your life, something happens and nothing can ever be the same again.

For Alice, 29 year old solicitor, it's discovering that she has inherited a hardware shop and house from her favourite and recently deceased aunt. But could she give up her life in London to make a go of the business in Ireland?

For Maggie, 36 year-old lady of leisure, it's finding her husband up close and personal with her neighbour! When he leaves her for his new-found love she takes drastic action.

For Isabel, 36 years old with twins, it's the discovery that her husband has just gambled their life savings on the stock market and lost.

Nothing is ever straight forward: what with stolen diamonds, an attempted kidnapping and an unsolved murder, selling everything from goose eggs to hoover bags is going to be more of a challenge than anyone thought!

5.0 out of 5 stars A cherrful read 26 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Dawn Cairns is just one of those authors whose books are entertaining and easy to read. Having read her first book I was disappointed I had to wait so long before number 2 came out but I loved it just as much. The characters are endearing and I like the writer's style which just flows along. I hope I don't have to wait too long for book number 3.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light and airy fun... 1 May 2003
By kate
I had a great time reading this book on a flight from Belfast to the US. Having just been to all the spots named in the book it was a fun read. As far as the plot goes it was easy to follow. It kept you wanting more eventhough it wasn't very complex. The characters were very likeable and overall it was just what I wanted in a "vacation" book-light and airy fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars down to earth 31 Dec 2002
This book I would recommend to anyone wanting an easy non brain taxing read. I found that from the moment I started the book I couldnt leave it down every chapter opened up another dimension to the plot. I found it a very enjoyable and extremly funny novel to read. I even find myself now wanting to get hold of a copy of Dawn Cairns fisrt novel Tulips, chips and mayonnaise.
