Google Like I've Never Seen

The title alone speaks volumes about this book. It's written by lawyers, FOR lawyers. The authors' conversational style and ability to "break it down" for non-techies makes the book immediately useful and surprisingly readable (especially, but not just, for lawyers). The chapters relating to Google's vaunted search facilities might make some lawyers rethink their research budget (especially in smaller and solo firms): the search content alone justifies the book's price.
But there's so much more. Google's product set ("apps") is vast and (for the most part) free. And wow, these authors really delve into most of the apps that directly support the legal profession, from document and practice management, to research and messaging. Most chapters contain practical user guidelines tailored to lawyers' needs, offering practical, law-firm scenarios for specific apps and advising caution where appropriate on topics like maintaining confidentiality and avoiding pitfalls of unauthorized practice - particularly helpful given the global reach of Google's suite of apps.
Of course, Google's toolset is constantly changing, and this book helps readers keep up with new developments by providing excellent tips on many information sources within (and outside) Google, which should give prospective buyers comfort in the staying power of their investment.
All in all, "Google for Lawyers" is an excellent reference source that every lawyer should consider. Or if you know a lawyer, here's a gift idea that is sure to please. Buy one for yourself - you may be surprised at how much more valuable your own Google searches can be - and how much FUN the test drive provides!
