4.0 out of 5 stars Revoltingly eductional! 19 Nov 2007
Format:Hardcover
What a bizarre book. The title, for all its incomprehensibility, really does the book justice.

The tone of the book is set by the front cover which has a realistic looking and feeling stretchy tongue. Each of the subsequent double pages (note that there are only 5 double spreads/10 pages in the book) has a wealth of visual and interactive detail. There are numerous flaps to lift, books within books, pop-ups, things to pull or twist. The pages are bright and the illustrations cheery and great for children.

The content is clever. It presents accurate facts about the mouth (types and locations of tastebuds), oesophagus, stomach and intestines. The biology and function of each area is presented accessibly. The last double page has some predictable toilet humour which appeals to all children.

I would imagine that this book is targeted at around the 7-9 year old age bracket for independent reading. However, I'll be giving a copy to my 4 year-old for Christmas as he will adore the tongue and bits to lift. He may even learn some simple biology as I read and/or paraphrase some sections for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars amusing and informative 24 Oct 2007
By Giddy
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
My daughter loves this book, she's four, but it would be suitable for an older child. The illustrations are bright and witty with loads of flaps which pull out to reaveal the workings of the body. See food pass from mouth to toilet with all parts covered in an eductional, but humourous fashion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 18 Nov 2008
By Ra Ali
Format:Hardcover
This has got to be my 5 year old's most favourite book of all times. There is so much to learn in this book and every time we read it we discover yet another flap and another piece of useful information or a fun fact. Its fantastic for this age group as they find most of the "ewww" stuff very funny and interesting. I learned some new things reading it as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab for small boys! 17 Feb 2012
By Jo_C
Format:Hardcover
This was my little boys favourite when he was early infant-school age, and makes a great birthday present for any 5 year old. It is graphically all about where your food goes once you've eaten it, complete with pop up toilets and buckets of sick. Really gross, hence it's popularity with the small boys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! 5 April 2009
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book to use with my year 2 class during a digestion lesson. It has become a firm class favourite especially as the tongue feels real [yuck!] and the last page features the boy sitting on the toilet. Although there are many flaps it is well made and with many interesting facts. Worth every penny!

5.0 out of 5 stars This BOOK is FANTASTIC 1 Jan 2014
By R. Inns
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I am really excited about teaching the digestive system to the children at school next term. This book with it's pull out flaps and helpful explanations will be a super visual aid and will I am sure inspire the children to investigate more for themselves. The sticky tongue on the front is amazing, although not slimy enough to be totally realistic! probably a good thing.
