Product Description

Meet Mr Gary Sparrow just an ordianry bloke with an extraordinary life; almost a devoted and attentive husband, a sometimes loyal and dependable best friend, and now a doting father with extraordinary tales of daring 1940's heroism. In the east end of London lies a strange alley called Duckett's Passage, an alley that for Gary Sparrow leads back to war torn London, to his wife Phoebe and their son, Michael. The war is drawing to an end and Gary is living upmarket Mayfair where wife Phoebe is starring in Noel Coward's latest film and opening a new nightclub. If only she could find a singer, not to mention a doorman and a barman. And what really happened to the infamous Jack The Ripper? Meanwhile, in the present day, the ever ambitious Yvonne is now jet setting millions and a Blair Babe, but something is still missing from her life. As for Ron, he is still desperate, single and broke, so it's nice to know that somethings never change. Oh, and did we mention that the time portal is about to be closed...it's time for Gary to choose. EPISODES 1. Mine's A Double, 2. All About Yvonne, 3. California Dreamin', 4. Grief Encounter, 5. The 'Ouses In Between, 6. Just In Time, 7. How I Won Thwe War, 8.Somthing Fishie, 9. Flash Bang Wallop, 10. Accentuate The Positive. SPECIAL FEATURES Episodes commentaries from series creators Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran and writers Gary Lawson, John Phelps and Geoff Rowley. An exclusive interview with Elizabeth Carling (Phoebe).

By E. A. Redfearn TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
As they say, all good things have to come to an end. This wonderful series finally wraps up with Season Six which incidentally is one of the best. The best episodes are to be found in Grief Encounter; The 'Ouses In Between, Just In Time, and of course the very final episode Accentuate The Positive. If you have not seen this before, dont worry, because I have no intention of telling you how it ends. Watch it through yourself and find out. Be prepared to have some tissues handy though, there may be a few tears shed between the many laughs which the entire series has managed to maintain over six long years. Full marks to Laurence Marks and Maurice Grain for maintaining the high standard of comedy over such a length of time. And of course, not forgetting that very fine comedy actor Nicholas Lyndhurst as Gary Sparrow whose professionalism and style grew in stature from the series humble beginnings. Elizabeth Carling as Phoebe, and the lovely Emma Amos as Yvonne made their respective roles their own, following on from Dervla Kirwan and Michelle Holmes (both whom were very good during the first three series.) And we must not forget both Victor McGuire as Ron, Gary's trusted and loyal friend right up to the end, and Christopher Ettridge as the gormless policeman, and later commissioner, Reg Deadman. Their contributions to the success of the series can never be understated. The comedy one liners are quite hilarious throughout. One episode I must mention, and that is when Gary accidentally goes too far back in time to the era of Jack The Ripper. This is a classic episode and must be seen for Emma Amos appears in this episode as the Music Hall Singer Marie Lloyd, and she is quite sensational, so dont miss it!

Supplemented by an interesting interview with the lovely Elizabeth Carling, and brief interviews with the original creators of the series before the final episode begins.

The 6th series of Goodnight Sweetheart was always destined to be the last.Where else was there to go?those were sort of the last words spoken in this as well.as a series this was funny and just as good to watch as the previous 5 series.always made me smile and never let me down.the last episode aired on BBC1 on 28th june 1999.i was devastated to see it go but accepted that the time had come to say 'Goodnight Sweetheart' 1993-1999 how many comedy series can say they ran for that long?

A great series, cast, stories and comedy all are here. Nicholas Lyndhurst,Victor McGuire and Christopher Ettridge are great throughout the whole series. I thought it might be a little hard to believe when Dervla Kirwan and Michelle Holmes left but Elizabeth Carling and Emma Amos did a great job of stepping in and I dont think you can see the joints.Sorry it finished but I'm still watching the DVD's

Nice bit of nostalgia!
I am enjoying watching Nicholas Lyndhurst again. The storylines get a little silly in places but I think that is part of their charm
