A Good Laugh 9 Dec 2008
I don't really care about the lack of original music too much unlike the previous reviewer. This is a comedy, not a music concert, who cares? I care about whether it makes me laugh and it does. The DVD plays fine in my DVD Player and Nicholas Lyndhurst is as funny as ever. I enjoyed the series and it certainly made me laugh. I would recommend it.

As series one and three have allready been reviewed I thought I would review series 2 of the excellent Goodnight sweetheart which ran on the BBC from 1993-1999 and covered the period of the second world war from 1941-1946. the second series sees Gary return to the east end for a favour for best friend Ron but after just passing the Royal oak he can not resist entering and seeing barmaid Phoebe again. Once inside Gary is shocked to learn Phoebe's dad and Royal oak landlord Eric has died leaving Phoebe and the hapless pc Reg Deadman in charge of the pub. As the series progresses Gary and Phoebes relationship grows stronger whilst Gary and Yvonne's in the present day begins to suffer. With Gary unsure what to do in the long term the last episode of the series seemingly makes the descision for him as his route to the past is cut off due to building work along his route to the 1940's. Overall a very enjoyable series of this excellent show.

Goodnight Sweetheart 28 Feb 2009
To my mind a classic series - the first few anyway, until like must it went 'silly'.

One of those things that we British do so well, a romantic story with a touch of humour and yet a really ridiculous storyline that is made so believable. No guns and no violence. Really good entertainment.
