From The Studio

In the east end of London lies a strange alley called Duckett's Passage, which leads Gary back to war torn London, to his wife Phoebe and their son, Michael.

Meet Mr Gary Sparrow, just an ordinary bloke with an extraordinary life; almost a devoted and attentive husband, a sometimes loyal and dependable best friend, but now a doting father with extraordinary tales of daring 1940's heroism. By day Gary Sparrow is a mere memorabilia salesman in a small shop in Whitechapel but, by night, he's a time traveller extraordinaire and a daring MI5 secret agent.

In the 1940's, Gary is desperate to move 'up west' for the sake of his young family, whilst Phoebe is having elocution lessons from none other than Noel Coward. And just who is Tufty McDuff and why is he so desperate for Gary to wear a false moustache and visit the Isle of Wight? And what on earth has happened to Reg?

Meanwhile, in the present day, the ever ambitious Yvonne is now a successful millionaire and a health consultant to the stars, while the hapless Ron is desperate, single and broke. Oh, and did we mention that the time portal is broken? Just what would happen if Phoebe met Yvonne?

5.0 out of 5 stars Whats a toilet duck?, 12 Jun 2006

This review is from: Goodnight Sweetheart - The Complete Series 5 [DVD] [1993] (DVD)
This is much better than series 4.Both Liz Carling and Emma Amos had made the roles of Phoebe and Yvonne their own and the acting felt much more natural. In terms of writing this series gave me some of the best laughs I ever got out of any of the previous 4 series. My personal favourite episode was were Phoebe wanders into the 1990s after a bomb blows a hole in the space time thingy and leaves it open for people to walk through.I couldnt stop laughing when Phoebe who had been told to sit in the toilet(while gary cleared away all the post war things)suddenly shouts out "Whats a toilet duck?"
This series kept the ratings high and provides so many funny if a bit unbelievable moments that its probably one of the best comedy series out there. However the inevitable axe was looming but when would it fall?the series was blighted with Last Ever rumours in the press.Thankfully it carried on the laughs with one more series which threw up a few suprises of its own......

This review is from: Goodnight Sweetheart - The Complete Series 5 [DVD] [1993] (DVD)
I love this series and even with a cast change it is still as strong! The 2nd Pheobe and Yvonne are brilliant. Ron is as always, Ron! Gotta love Mr Wheatcroft!

I heart Gary Sparrow!!
