I bought this partly on the recommendations of other comments and it being a well known brand, but with hindsight I would have bought another model. But how many have used it on batteries? I wanted a player that I could use on mains some of the time, but also carry it about and use batteries when required. No problem with the player as such although the base is a bit on the light side.
The big problem, and I would say design problem, is that when batteries are installed, they can never be fully turned off. The On/Off button on the front of the player switches it off into standby only, and while in standby illuminates a red LED. This acts as a constant drain on the batteries and I found that after about 2 weeks the batteries were flat, even though I had only used the player a couple of times. This also means that the clock function is unusable, unless the unit is constantly plugged in. Unless I have missed seeing a hidden switch on it somewhere, there is not a real off switch. So even without using it at all, the batteries will run down.
So if you never want to use it on batteries, go for it, but if you need the portability of battery power, then don't go there.
All other aspects of it I liked, its a shame this one feature that I needed it for, was so poor.
