The injustice of Third World debt is exposed in this incisive and penetrating work by the brilliant author of The Grip of Death.

He warns that the Third World debt trap is an extreme case of the same debt trap that all working families face in our own economies.

You may think Third World debt is a distant problem for distant lands. Think again. This book shows that the mechanisms pushing the Third World into permanent poverty are the same as those that are deferring your retirement and pushing your children into permanent debt with no hope of escape. Like docile frogs slowly being boiled alive, we are slowly being impoverished by the major banking institutions we trust. This book shows how.

Please read this important work.

This books describes the underlying causes of many of the workd's problems in clear language and images. It shows how our debt-based money system causes people and countries to go into debt, despite increasing porducitivity and wealth. It includes illuminating insights into the origins of the World Bank and IMF. And it shows why the present financial system is bad for America as well as the rest of the world. One day, national and international policies will be based on the ideas in this book. These ideas are dynamite, presented in an accessible and enjoyable style.

I'd heard great things about this book and came across since it was recently referenced by George Monbiot whom I respect a lot. I was initially dismayed and frustrated by the first two chapters which are too shouty, waffly and jump around too much. The book becomes much more readable and interesting from the third chapter though. The focus is on Third World debt and how its been caused by the policies of the IMF and World Bank. You will learn that Free Trade isn't fair, because the conditions to make it so have been ignored! After reading the book I felt horrified how the Third World continues to be saddled by unjust (possibly illegal) un-repayable debt, and will remain so without a radical rethink of IMF and World Bank policies.
