The most significant book ever written about the Holy Spirit, 20 Oct 2002

Seeking the power Jesus promised in John 14-16 I've read many books on the Holy Spirit in the past few years and this book has encouraged me tremendously. Benny Hinn describes the power unleashed in his life from coming to know the Holy Spirit in a close personal relationship that is intensely bible-based. So much greater in power and intimacy is the relationship he describes than many christians have experienced that some people have dismissed it as unbiblical and fanaticism. But wait a minute, laying aside our prejudices shouldn't we go back to our bibles and carefully read what God has promised? In John 14-16 Jesus tells his disciples he is leaving them (14:2), He promises 'another Counsellor' (14:17) saying 'It is for your good that I that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counsellor will not come to you: but if I go, I will send him to you' (16:7). Jesus is talking about a person, like himself 'the Spirit of Christ' (Rom 8:9), yet unseen 'But you will know him, for he lives with you and will be in you' (Jn 14:17)... I could go on. As for everything in the christian life, Jesus is the standard we must measure ourselves by. If we want to know how great a relationship we can have with the Father and the Spirit we must study the bible to find out what kind of a relationship Jesus had. 'By their fruit you will recognise them' (Mt 7:20). I first saw Benny Hinn's ministry mentioned as having a significant influence on the revival in Argentina. Like Kathryn Kuhlman, the fruit of his life has been great, yet not without mistakes. This book doesn't fill everyone with the sense of excitement it's given me but if you long to be a vessel for the power of God to fill your life for the benefit of others you must read this. Essential to fully understanding this book is the Benny Hinn's sequel 'The Anointing'.
