Product Description

Product Description
"Good Morning, Holy Spirit" burst on the scene over a decade ago and immediately topped the best-seller lists and redefined the way people thought about their own relationship with the Holy Spirit. Now, in this revised and updated edition, Pastor Benny Hinn shares the same insights and truths that God has taught him through the years, as well as the impact they have had on those around him. Beginning with a dramatic encounter, the book unveils Hinn's uncommon journey to an understanding of and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Complete with a study and discussion guide for individual or group use, "Good Morning, Holy Spirit" will lead readers to discover: how to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit; seven steps to a more effective prayer life; the source and purpose of God's anointing; freedom from fear of the "unpardonable" sin; and, God's master plan for their lives.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, 20 April 2009
By Jonathan Carr "joncarr" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm not someone who feels much satisfaction with the easy answers, and to me this book is too lightweight to be of much use. I much prefer the work of Paul Yonggi Cho, for example, The Nature of God: Who is God...Really? and the reason is the depth of analysis. It is really off-putting for a new Christian, I think, to convey the kind of image of what it's all about that Benny Hinn puts across. Christianity is not a form of magic. There are loads of Christians who do not heal, who do not change, who do not have supernatural experiences or connections, who do not feel protected, and so on. Most of the ones I know are highly confused and disappointed with their relationship with God - if they're honest.

While I have no doubt that Benny Hinn is sincere, and that this this book constitutes a truthful account, I don't understand why he thinks that it is not hard to find out what the Holy Spirit thinks or discern when he is talking to you. According to scripture, Jesus Christ spend 40 days fasting and praying in the desert before even the first glimpses of His Ministry became clear. Benny Hinn seems to able to get God on the phone.

I really hate this kind of text. It's always given to beginners, when any person who is serious about spiritual matters is in for all kinds of strange experiences which require reflection and study. Praying can be a really depressing and annoying process. In fact it almost always is. God does not sit down with the prayerful and give them direct help. It doesn't work like that. Does anyone seriously think we would be living in a world like this one if God was so clear and so active?

It doesn't matter which religion a person chooses: when they start delving into themselves and looking at things in a spiritual way, they get into new, potentially frightening territory. Books such as this one do nothing to prepare people for what may lie ahead. They raise expectations and lead to people dropping their faith in a tantrum. I have seen this often and I believe it is the result of books like this, along with empty-headed pastoring and unwelcoming churches.

I am willing to overlook the factor that for individuals like Benny Hinn there are millions of dollars of income at stake, and that it makes sense to make Christianity look attractive to the outsider. Even so, we deserve more serious books from a man who claims to be a Christian leader. Even Billy Graham was more honest than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most significant book ever written about the Holy Spirit, 20 Oct 2002
By A Customer
Seeking the power Jesus promised in John 14-16 I've read many books on the Holy Spirit in the past few years and this book has encouraged me tremendously. Benny Hinn describes the power unleashed in his life from coming to know the Holy Spirit in a close personal relationship that is intensely bible-based. So much greater in power and intimacy is the relationship he describes than many christians have experienced that some people have dismissed it as unbiblical and fanaticism.

But wait a minute, laying aside our prejudices shouldn't we go back to our bibles and carefully read what God has promised? In John 14-16 Jesus tells his disciples he is leaving them (14:2), He promises 'another Counsellor' (14:17) saying 'It is for your good that I that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counsellor will not come to you: but if I go, I will send him to you' (16:7). Jesus is talking about a person, like himself 'the Spirit of Christ' (Rom 8:9), yet unseen 'But you will know him, for he lives with you and will be in you' (Jn 14:17)... I could go on.

As for everything in the christian life, Jesus is the standard we must measure ourselves by. If we want to know how great a relationship we can have with the Father and the Spirit we must study the bible to find out what kind of a relationship Jesus had.

'By their fruit you will recognise them' (Mt 7:20). I first saw Benny Hinn's ministry mentioned as having a significant influence on the revival in Argentina. Like Kathryn Kuhlman, the fruit of his life has been great, yet not without mistakes.

This book doesn't fill everyone with the sense of excitement it's given me but if you long to be a vessel for the power of God to fill your life for the benefit of others you must read this. Essential to fully understanding this book is the Benny Hinn's sequel 'The Anointing'.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Holy Spirit is God, 6 April 2002
By A Customer
Benny Hinn gives us what is essentially an autobiography tracing his spiritual development from his youth in the Greek Orthodox Church and in Catholic schools in Jaffa to his discovery of the Holy Spirit as God after his family moved to Toronto.

...his testimony is very revealing about who he is today as a TV evangelist. Above all his testimony shows the value of faithfully studying the bible.
