Function and Looks 20 Dec 2013

OXO Good Grips Lua Pepper Mill works nicely. You can easily change the coarseness of the pepper. The design is attractive and looks nice in my modern kitchen. I would have the pepper come out faster/heavier, but I like a lot of pepper. (I keep a bowl of ground by my stove to toss into whatever I am cooking.) Easy to refill. Overall, if you are looking for a pepper mill, this one will do the trick.

Not bad, but not as good as others 13 Jan 2014

I've used a pepper mill for probably the last 20 years. At first, I bought a couple cheap ones, and they broke very quickly, so I decided to buy a higher-quality one, similar to, if not the same as, this one: William Bounds 8-Inch HM pepper Mill, and that's what I've used ever since. In comparison to the Oxo Lua pepper mill, the William Bounds mill is the one I prefer, by far - it has a full metal body, which I prefer to the see-through (acrylic?) body of the Oxo; the Bounds mill also has a lifetime warranty. I was skeptical of the lifetime warranty, at first, but I've used the warranty twice over the last 15 years, and William Bounds repaired the mill each time, for free.

If the Oxo were twenty dollars or less (and had a lifetime warranty), it would be a good deal, but at thirty, it's up against some much better options. It's not a bad mill, it's really pretty good, and it has some features not found on the Bounds mill (top-grind design, for one), but when I've had the option of using the Oxo mill or the 12+ year-old Bounds mill, I always go for the Bounds. And if I decided to buy a new mill, either for myself or as a gift, I'd also choose the Bounds mill. It's just a better mill, with a better warranty, for the same price (currently 32 dollars at chefs resource dot com).

Another Hit from OXO 3 Dec 2013
By Darena Shopz - Published on Amazon.com
Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I love the OXO brand and I don't think I've ever had a bad product from them. Once again, I love the OXO pepper grinder.

You could keep this by the stove but it's sized small enough and attractive enough to keep right on your dining table. It is has black trim and brushed stainless steel with an acrylic body. It is labeled BPA free.

It's easy to use. There is a tab that you turn on the side to adjust the size of your pepper flakes. There is 5 different settings going from fine to coarse. The coarseness of fresh ground pepper is not the same as pepper that comes already ground in the tins at the grocery store. I like my pepper coarse and I think it's coarse enough on the finest setting.

It grinds from the top so it doesn't make a mess on your table or counter, when it's upright, no more pepper comes out.

I was pleasantly surprised that it came filled with peppercorns already.

Now I'm thinking I'm going to have to have the salt mill to match.

Certainly works well, seems sturdy enough 17 Dec 2013

The OXO Good Grips Lua Pepper Mill allows you to dial in how finely or coarsely you want to grind your peppercorns, from coarse to very fine. It is easy to turn, and, of course, easy to see how much pepper remains because it is clear. I tend to keep it near the stove and use it more for food prep, but it is not out of place on an everyday dinner table either.

I admit I was puzzled bout how to refill this mill at first, and I finally figured it out, It is pretty easy to refill, and I imagine clean at some point. I cannot really effuse extensively about pros or cons as I have limited experience in the realm of peppermills, but this one should work for most folks and seems like it will last.

Great, but kind of pricy. 18 Dec 2013
By But I'm feeling much better now... - Published on Amazon.com
Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Works fine, the design is great in that the dispenser is on the top and not the bottom, no more pepper all over the place. The only issue is that not a lot of pepper comes out with a turn of the handle, for my taste it takes about 10 turns to get the right amount, making me wish for a battery powered grinder.

I was thinking of getting another, the matching salt grinder, but for the price I think I'll just get a battery operated set on sale for about the same money.
