Cut the fat with the OXO Good Grips Fat Separator, now available in a convenient 1L size. Pour gravy into the Separator and watch the fat rise to the top while lean gravy settles to the bottom. The heat resistant strainer catches unwanted bits, and the stopper prevents fat from rising to the top of the spout. Once the gravy has settled, remove the strainer and the stopper and pour out perfect gravy. A shield prevents the gravy from spilling over the top of the Separator instead of through the spout. This heat resistant Fat Separator has measurement markings for increased convenience and a non-slip handle for a comfortable, firm grip. Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning and also available in a 500ml size.

I've had a few gravy separators in the past and none have been entirely satisfactory and a common problem has been the plastic cracking with use. I have the smaller size (2-Cup) version of this jug and as it has performed well (and hasn't cracked with hot fat over time) I got this larger size for larger quantities of liquid. I also use the separator for collecting liquid from my juicer as some fruits, pineapple in particular, create a foamy liquid at first, but, on standing the clear juice sinks to the bottom and a layer of foam rises to the top. This separator jug is ideal for drawing off the clear liquid leaving the foam behind.
These jugs have a good, comfortable handle that doesn't slip and they dish-wash with no problems.

This jug is great, a lot better than some of the others on the market as it is twice the size of them, allowing you to do a reasonable batch in one go, I have found enough for 6 depending of course how much is oil and how much gravy you like on your plate! The strainer on the top is also a good depth to stain out any veg etc. I would recommend this item.

Does what it says....
Despite purchasing this some months ago it was used for the first time last week. Normally we leave the juices in the fridge for the fat to set, then scoop it off, etc. Read more

Gravy
Larger than I had expected which means and it doesn't work so well unless there is a large volume of gravy. Having said that, it does work very well.
