Product Description

Review

an absolutely marvellous book... young adult readers will really appreciate the stylishness of this novel just as much as they appreciate the social themes and the thriller aspect of the murder story in its latter stages.

(TheBookbag.co.uk 2011-07-01)

A fascinating read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read 9 July 2011
Format:Paperback
Dark, edgy, real - this book takes us through the tough experience of growing up in an unsure world, with people who are hard to live with and harder to accept. The puzzles of family, relationships and how life is are explored with sensitivity, but without anything to sugar them. The writing's so good it's invisible.

3.0 out of 5 stars A book thats both brilliant and terrible. 23 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback
Dark, gritty and interesting.
However,it was also tedious, slow-paced and confusing. I liked it and at times it was difficult to put down but mid-way through through it began to feel as if the author got bored.
It is a relatively short novel but despite this some parts of it didn't really need to be included, some plotlines also had a lot of potential and felt left unfinished.
If you're reading it now don't be put off by the slow, dawdling middle you might as well finish it. It gets exciting towards the end and you'll be impressed by the moving ending.
Even though it does lean towards the poor side of average there is a poignant form of brilliance shining through.
It will not spoon-feed you as a reader, it requires a certain degree of thought that, however desperately, manages to keep you hooked.
I'd like to praise Vincent Caldey for some beautiful metaphors and parts of his prose are simply poetic.
This is a pretty decent read but I'd only recomend it if you're a mature, paitent type of reader or a big fan of this genre.
