Dark, gritty and interesting.
However,it was also tedious, slow-paced and confusing. I liked it and at times it was difficult to put down but mid-way through through it began to feel as if the author got bored.
It is a relatively short novel but despite this some parts of it didn't really need to be included, some plotlines also had a lot of potential and felt left unfinished.
If you're reading it now don't be put off by the slow, dawdling middle you might as well finish it. It gets exciting towards the end and you'll be impressed by the moving ending.
Even though it does lean towards the poor side of average there is a poignant form of brilliance shining through.
It will not spoon-feed you as a reader, it requires a certain degree of thought that, however desperately, manages to keep you hooked.
I'd like to praise Vincent Caldey for some beautiful metaphors and parts of his prose are simply poetic.
This is a pretty decent read but I'd only recomend it if you're a mature, paitent type of reader or a big fan of this genre.
