Making a home is lifeling persuit and it starts with your very first place. Suzanne and Lauren McGrath believe that every home should have a core group of great pieces in it that can live in almost any room and will always be stylish. At 25 Laura represents the younger generation of women who are making decisions about investing in key pieces for their first and second apartments. Suzanne represents the more settled women both those with families and those without, some redecorating, some starting over or adjusting to an empty nest. Together their advise appeals to women everywhere who are looking for guidance on how to create a home that feels right at every stage of life. Their style is hands-on and accessible. We'll see photos of them rolling up their sleeves, painting, bargaining at antique fairs and dressing tabletops with collectables and easy to find pieces. The book will be devided into 7 chapters based on a particular piece of furniture or accessory that they consider a great piece. Using newly shot photographs of homes and apartments they've designed or designed by such renowned designers as Miles Redd and Robert Couterier, this book will be a wonderful resource for fans of down-to-earth practical interior design as well as fans of the blog.

5.0 out of 5 starsINSPIRATIONAL!26 April 2012
By E. Roth - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy of this book. This book not only gives readers user friendly decorating tips that can actually be put to use but it shows some incredible, never published before rooms. It really annoys me when decorating books recycle old photos that have already been published in magazines, but Good Bones gives you new, fresh and inspiring spaces that you haven't seen before. Not to mention the idea behind the book of showing you how to use the seven essential pieces in all different rooms of your home is a concept that is both practical and revolutionary at the same time.

As a huge fan of the blog, I was so excited to FINALLY get my hands on the book version of Good Bones, Great Pieces. Suzanne and Lauren offer unrivaled advice for how to outfit your home without spending a fortune, whether it's a tiny first apartment like mine or a bigger family home. I've already read it cover to cover and will be recommending to all my friends and family. Their blog is great, too!

5.0 out of 5 starsHow to Class Up a Small Space23 May 2012
By Cemmet - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The McGraths' book makes decorating a small apartment so logical. If you acquire a few basic and versatile pieces of furniture for your first home, they will serve you indefinitely, even if you eventually end up in a larger space with a larger household and more money. A demilune table, a loveseat, a slipper chair, a padded bench --- it doesn't matter whether you spend a lot or a little on these compact and charming pieces; their utility makes them priceless.
The book is beautifully laid out and a pleasure to read. Give a copy to every college graduate you know -- male or female!
