Product Description

Review
"The definitive rundown of the best places in the UK to get a pint of real ale, from cosy country inns to upmarket style bars" - Time Out magazine."

Product Description
Now in its 36th year, the "Good Beer Guide" is fully revised and updated each year. Along with information on over 4,500 recommended pubs, the Guide has a unique 'Breweries Section' which lists all the breweries - micro, regional and national - that produce cask beer in the UK. Tasting notes, compiled by CAMRA-trained tasting teams, are also included. "The Good Beer Guide" is more than just a pub guide - it is the complete book for beer lovers. There are no entry fees for listings, and every pub is checked many times a year by discerning local CAMRA members."Good Pub Guide" is published annually by Ebury Press. Pubs in this guide are checked just once a year and by far fewer researchers who compile the "Good Beer Guide". There are only around 1,000 full entries and the other pubs listed have very brief descriptions. "The Good Pub Guide" tends to concentrate on rural pubs whereas the "Good Beer Guide" has a good selection of both rural and urban pubs. This means there are huge gaps in geographic coverage in the "Good Pub Guide" with some cities not covered."AA Pub Guide" is published annually by AA Publishing. It includes only 2,500 pubs whereas the "Good Beer Guide" covers more than 4,500. There is sure to be something to meet the readers' requirements in the "Good Beer Guide".The launch is to be supported by a major media campaign by CAMRA, raising the profile of this already successful annual title.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE pub guide to the best of British beer, 21 Dec 2008
My husband has every edition of this guide, and used to contribute to the reviews of our local pubs until recently. Lots of CAMRA volunteers each year are needed to survey the real ales of over 4,000 pubs committed to preserving our nation's beer heritage. Well, someone has to do it.

What results is an independent, definitive guide to the nation's pubs serving real ale. It's good for finding a pub locally that you've not tried before and comes into its own on holiday and weekends, when you're new to an area and need to find a decent pub fast.

In addition to the details of the beer served, the guide will tell you whether it's quiet pub, has a real fire, when it serves food, if it has accommodation and a host of other details in addition to a thumbnail sketch of each venue. A separate section provides information on each real ale brewery and beers, complete with tasting notes.

One to keep to hand throughout the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original and Still the Best, 17 Oct 2008
By Mr. Thomas Watts "Beer Lover" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
By far the best pub guide for the UK, easy to use good info on the pubs, maps for inner city locations, and above all details on what guest and house ales are on offer in each. I've found many a brilliant pub using this guide and its predecessors and hopefully I will continue to.

The only bad thing about it is that its not exactly pocketable, make sure you decide which pubs you're going to visit before you head out, because you probably won't want to take this with you.
